Karl Lagerfeld Wool Pencil Skirt: Love It or Hate It?

You know when you see a fashion item that you think is really fabulous but then you wonder: can I pull that off? This Karl Lagerfeld Wool Pencil Skirt, $425, is a good example of this. While I think this deconstructed look is really interesting and the asymmetrical layering is way cool, I just don't know if I could pull this off. Also, what would you wear with this? Everything else would have to be very simple, as to not take away from the skirt being the focal point. What do you think? Love or hate?

unless u had stick thin legs like the model it would be very unflattering and make your legs look bigger than they are!

I don't wear wool, other than that I think I like it. I love brown skirts but I agree with the description I need to see the whole outfit.

what's the definition of pencil skirt?

i always thought that it was tapered and cut very close to the body and knee length..

i had a co-worker wear a similar skirt to work the other day and even though she is model-skinny and wore a very simple top and flats, she still looked like a balloon! this type of skirt is not flattering to ANY figure.

this is definately the type of skirt that's best left for conceptual pieces you see in W, Vogue, etc...

I like it. I can imagine it looking good on a lot of Tokyo girls. I think it DOESN'T work on this model, though.

this is not a pencil skirt anymore! It's just a randomly sewed piece of fabric. I would 've expected more from lagerfeld..

Hey ladies - yeah I wouldn't say this is a pencil skirt but that's what ShopBop described it as. A pencil skirt is simply a slim, narrow fitting skirt that usually hits above the knee. xo

Like others, I don't think this fits the definition of a pencil skirt. Also, I'm allergic to wool, so that's no good. And lastly, I think this model's legs are too skinny for this skirt. It would look better with more shapely legs, IMHO.

I hate uneven hemlines. ugh. that could have been a cute skirt if it was all the one length...and a different color.
