3.1 Phillip Lim For Tatami Helen Fringe Sandal: Love It or Hate It?

Phillip Lim's collaboration with Birkenstock has finally materialized. These 3.1 Phillip Lim For Tatami Helen Fringe Sandals ($150) are one of the many styles. Though I would never touch a traditional Birkenstocks with a 10-foot pole, I'd wear these because of the fringe and patent details. Plus, they're much more chic than regular Birkenstocks. Would you?

I refuse to wear Birkenstocks of any kind. I don't care if Christian Louboutin makes me a custom pair with real diamonds.

I HATE Birkenstocks. These are almost worse than the traditional ones.

These look cute and certainly they would be comfortable. A very good traveling/walking a lot shoe.

I like them, but I'm a bit unsure about the silver, I'd preffer black.

I like these, but then I like my regular Birkenstocks, too.

I'm becoming increasingly obsessed with Phillip Lim, and maybe that's skewing my judgment but I do really like these.

I'd definitely wear them, but I'd be concerned about comfort. With such a thin strap going over the foot, and no thong to go between your toes, these look to me like your foot would keep slipping out the front.

I think the gladiator/ Roman deal is so ugly, no matter how shiny you make them.

I think that traditional Birkenstocks leave a lot to be desired, but they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. So I have been eagerly waiting to see what Philip Lim comes up with! However, I can't seem to find the whole line anywhere... I heard they'll be available on net-a-porter, but does anyone know anywhere else you can buy them? Thanks!

What's with the slagging of Birkenstocks? Perfect hippy chic, comfortable sandals. This is just a perversion of the idea to cater to the nail-polished preppy crowd who would indeed "never touch them with a ten-foot pole". Well, then don't. Bound to fail, no matter how many designers polish them up with their prized spit.

really not so bad. If you are doing a lot of casual walking and its summer, they make a lot of sense.
