I recently visited Anthropologie and was sidetracked by a fabulous book: What Would Jackie Do? An Inspired Guide to Distinctive Living by Shelly Branch and Sue Callaway ($13). If you admire Jackie O as much as I do, you will fall in love with this book. It offers fun life and fashion tips based on what the authors have learned from Jackie's grandiose life. An example? Book your flight through an airport where the agents are apt to be less savvy about recognizing Prada. Smart!

Um, I just don't get it...fly out of airports that don't know Prada? What does that even mean. I'm sick of people soaking every cent out of old icons. It's gotten so tired.

I loved this book and if nothing else, what would Jackie do is a great prompt to behave just a little bit better!

Eh, I admire Jackie O as well but I think I like being myself a bit more. I don't like to idolize people even if they did have amazing lifestyles, I would rather be the best me that I can be rather than live life the way others would have. I don't think I'd buy it. But It looks fab Eye-wink

Wow. somebody needs to brush up on U.S. history lol. I love Jackie O. and I agree with Stephley..if anything this book will be a little bit of an etiquette lesson to the young, uncouth, paris hilton wannabies of today.

What age group would eat this up? My sisters (19 & 14) would scoff. I love Jackie and all the classy, poised ladies. I could never be one! I'm a foul mouthed Jersey-girl to the bone.

i think there are plenty of good books out there for fashion forward and have tips. Jackie O has great style but I see this book of a way to make a buck of her and her images and thoughts. When u can get them for free by googling them

Yeah, what's the difference with going to airports where agents are less able to determine if a bag is Prada or not? To evade taxing?

"Book your flight through an airport where the agents are apt to be less savvy about recognizing Prada."

    ???

Huh?...Is this the most ridiculous statement ever or am I just plain ignorant? Seriously, what is that supposed to mean? Can anyone please enlighten me?

I would consider myself someone who is ya know, relatively smart & witty, and I have thought about that Prada joke and completely don't get it at all. Who knows what it means?

I have that book- it's a great, quick read. It's less a guide to emulating Jackie and more about bringing out your own sense of elegance. It's also got a few interesting tidbits about Jackie's personal life.

Anyone who's interested can find used copies (many in excellent condition) for less than $1 (plus a couple dollar shipping) on Amazon.com.

Maybe it's so that it's less likely to get stolen, now that I think bout it.
Hmm, FAB? What do you think?

I loved this book!!! I wouldn't say it's a must-read but it's definitely cute and entertaining. Don't knock it till you read it. ;P As with any advice-type book, it's not meant for the reader to follow every single suggestion. Just seeing the examples and being able to pick and choose the interesting tidbits that you like and want to incorporate into your own life and style is what makes this book worth reading.
