Winter Boots To Wear Instead of UGG(lie)s

I'm over them (for the record, I was never under them). Molly is over them. There are cuter and newer alternatives to the chunky, casual UGG - I swear it! Go ahead, be a trendsetter. Check these out, and please please please try to break the mold. For me? Also, these alternate UGGs are less expensive and, in my opinion, not as UGG(ly) as the played out boot.

Rubber Duck Snowjoggers in Olive, $80. These come in many more colors and are old school cool. And, did I mention Sienna Miller and Katherine Heigl sport these?

A couple more, read more

Front Lace Hardsole Suede Fringe Boot, $70.95. My personal favorite, these come in more colors and are so chic with long leggings and a tunic sweater.

Nine West Melba, on sale for $49.99 (originally $99). I think these are a nice mix of the above two styles.

Those first boots scream Napolean Dynamite to me, and he is not ther person I want to be taking my fashion cues from. The others are cute, though.

i love UGGS, i won't be over them for a while. it gets damn cold in minnesota so they'll be functional here until global warming takes over and we grow oranges in minneapolis. Sticking out tongue

Sorry, but none of those even come close to Uggs in my book!

I'm sorry but I love my UGGs, but not for fashion reasons...they keep my feetsies warm, even in 3 feet of snow, and they are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. I also got them back in 2002 and they are still like brand new today. One of my best purchases ever!

Tnkrbelli: I am so with you!!! I have had uggs since I was 13 years old. I grew up in CALI and Uggs were NEVER worn for cuteness! If you were a swimmer or surfer (I was both) you wore Uggs b/c they were the best thing ever to put on after swimming. I live in Chicago now, and I could never part with my Uggs. Do you have any idea what the snow/salt/slush would do to those suede boots? On top of that, who really wants to look like Pocohantas???

ChiTownEm, we moved to Chicago (Wicker Park) from Long Island. I can't believe how cold it is today!! My daughter & I are rocking our Uggs. My husband is headed to LA tomorrow. I'm so jealous!!

Tnkrbelli, to "snarf" is to laugh when you are swallowing a drink & a little(or a lot) comes out of your nose. LOL.

You all crack me up too!!

Blah. Uggs have their place(I didn't realize they were actually good in the snow), but unfortunately here in Phoenix I only see them on bleached and baked coeds who think they're sexy to wear in 80 degree weather. Sticking out tongue

I never liked Uggs. A bad boyfriend from freshman year in college was caught cheating on me with a surfer chic who always wore Uggs (he had borrowed my car and she 'accidentally left them in it!). That was before they were big but I remember thinking they were the ugliest slipper/shoes around...

I will never part with my Uggs. They are so toasty warm and cozy... I've never once tried to call them fashionable, but they will always have a place in my closet. I have to agree, when I saw the first boots I totally felt like busting a move on stage a la Napolean Dynamite. I can't believe that someone would think that these are more fashionable than Uggs!

I can't part with my Uggs. Never ever.

Top boot are Napolean Dynmite Moon shoes from the 80's, which I didn't even wear in the 80's when it was cold.

Second boots are locally worn by stoners/vagrant/musicians so I'm not going there. Unless you're emaciated they look strange on.

Third boot.. looks like the Totes brand boots my mom wears to work on snowy days. She carries her pumps in her diddy bag so she doesn't get salt on them.

Uggs fit the lifestyle of today and if you aren't a fan, don't wear them.

Love the rubberduck ones! I've never been an UGG girl. Everyone on my campus wears them though. They're way overdone, so it's good to see some new boots popping up!

I love the Minnetonka lace-up ones. Kate Moss wears hers EVERYWHERE and they look adorable. I fear that I'd look like a fool in them, though. But I'd really like to try them out.

I too love the rubber duck ones. They may be a little 80's, but CERTAINLY better than uggs. I've seen pictures of Katherine Heigl wearing them and they are way cute. I think it might me time for me to invest some new boots!

Also-- uggs are hideous and played out, I would much rather wear something that doesn't belong on, as partysugar said, a (likely 16 and stoned) surfer chick. No offense to anyone who wears them, but they are not for me and I would love to see them go away! I understand they're functional but surely something else keeps your feet warm and dry?!

I was actually looking forward to finding some trendier Ugg type of boots in this post. Not so much...your recommendations are heinous and my Uggs still rein supreme in the comfort/warmth category.

Also, I hate wearing socks so Uggs are perfect for me Smiling

I think the snowjoggers look pretty alright. Warm and classic. But that's only if Memphis got a lot of snow.
But i LOVE those nine west boots. The fur on top is very very cute.

The snow joggers would be cute on a ski resort. That's the only place I could see them worn practically... They're too much like a winter puffy coat for the feet... the fringe ones are FUGLY!! and the nine west ones look cheap to me.

AND... I LOVE LOVE LOVE My Ugg[lies]! They are like slipping your foot into a small slice of heaven! ha ha. I don't care that they are ugly either. They're like a Chinese Crested - so ugly they're cute! Sticking out tongue I have the tall light tan ones, and I'm even thinking about getting the short black ones... they looks soo cute over the skinny jeans that are in right now!!!

    FabSugar,

Please don't ever admit you wear leggings again. You are promoting bad bad bad things. That fad needs to die now. Go away from the dark side! Come back to the light!

ewww these alternatives are ugly!!!!!! Uggs are deffinetely not the only pair fo boots I own, but def the best pair to match with casual jeans and sweater on a glum day when you ahve to run around town. Comfort somtimes has to come first in the winter.

And I would deffeintely never say the are fashionable, but they are by far the best option out there.

Nothing beats my Uggs! It's been -5 degrees with snow in Chicago for the last 2 weeks and I have a couple other pairs of more "fashionable" snow/cold weather boots, but Uggs are by far the ones that keep my toesies the warmest. HANDS. DOWN.

I know my Uggs are not the cutest, but we have had lots of windchill advisories here lately (think -50!!), and when it's that cold out, I don't really care how cute my boots are if they keep my feet warm!!

The first ones look like little kid snow boots. The seconds don't look warm at all and look like they wouldn't be so cute anymore if they got wet. The third pair look like something my grandma wears. I love my UGGs. I have 3 pair and I still think they're cute but most importantly when I'm walking to class with the windchill -20 and there's snow and ice everywear, my UGGs are the only thing that keep my feet warm and dry. I don't care if they're not "trendy" anymore.

I too am over the uggs, unless the price happened to go down. The first ones look really really warm and when it is this cold here in CHicago, warmth is all that matters in the end.

    Hey!
I just bought a pair of snowjoggers in gray and I tried them on last night over a pair of jeans. They look very cute (believe it or not) but they're not for everyone. I admit, at first glance, they're not the greatest to look at, but trust me, try them on, you might actually fall in love with them!

I've been in search for a boot other than your typical Uggs and living in Boston where every girl and their mother are wearing Uggs, it's refreashing to wear a different style boot that keep your feet warm and keep you from falling on your ass in the snow.
