60s wasn't only the era of hippie, but it was also the era of Mod subculture. I love mini shift dresses, flats, big sunglasses, and beautiful big eye makeup from Belle de Jour.

Its so hard to decide!! I just adore clothes and music from the 40s, and in some cases the 50s too. I used to swing dance in the US and totally loved dressing the part, and style from those eras fits my body shape better than others, where I feel I would have to be taller and straighter in shape to really wear them well. (like the 20s).

There are some elements of 60s and 70s dressing that I still like...bold graphics, tall boots, wrap dressing, kimono sleeved v-neck "disco" style dresses, (my mom had a black one that was freaking awesome to wear, and I found a modern equivalent at "Next" in the UK)...

But I also loved 90s grunge, it was easy, comfy and fun to wear Doc Martens with slip dresses. Hehe.'

I think every era has something worth remembering and re-living.

Anything before the 70's for me. But right now I'm really loving the full skirts and nipped waists of the 50's and Dior's "new look"

I was so born in the wrong decade. I am in love with 40s fashion and my penchant for classic Hollywood plays right into that. I love the silhouettes of 40s style dressing.

After looking through those Bazaar photos, I'm almost convinced that my favourites are 40s and 50s. But I voted for all. I try to look for inspiration everywhere, and each era has their share of awesomeness.

i love the crispness and pristeen look of the forties - you had no choice but to look good.

but the sixties and seventies are a neck and neck second place.

I chose 60s, but it was a toss up between the 60s and the 80s....Both are incredibly interesting to me and I wish in the 80s I had been old enough to enjoy all of the trends.

I want big hair to come back.

For me, it's a tie between the 20s and the 40s...but I agree, each era has something special about it.

I picked the 1960s but I love any of them going from the non-disco 70s (the bohemian folky 70s instead and the look from Love Story) all the way back to the 20s. I love that picture of Lauren Bacall. And doesn't punk really belong to the 70s? Even though I guess people were still dressing punk in the 80s.

The 20's and the 30's. But that's because I have the tiny flat-as-a-board body that those flapper dresses and coats required. If I was curvy I'm sure I would appreciate the 50's more!

I voted for the 50s, but for me it's more of mid-50s to mid-60s.. I hate that the 60s are usually written off as "hippie" when, as VanillaJ pointed out, there was the whole mod thing (etc!), too.

The 20s and the 80s are my fav. Both vibrant and fun. As a short little pear however, I look the best in those perfectly nipped 50s dresses.

I would have said love them all except for the Grunge and Punk.
Although I did find Vivian Westwood's take on those interesting but not for me.

'60s! I love everything in fashion about it- the sophisticated Jackie O, the Twiggy & Edie Sedgwick mod, and the hippie counter-culture. It's just amazing, I wish I could have lived it!

I love them all for different reasons but I have to say I think the classiest looks came from the 40s.

    1880s.. talk about tailoring!

For actually wearing in day to day life:

Dresses: 1930s cause the drape suits anyone (and some of it's 1980s revival but most are overdone), and early 1970s hippie dresses (like Gunnes) cause they're just pretty.

Skirts: 1930s-1950s. High waisted, perfect lengths. 1990s for the sudden mass availability of ethnic/belly dancer skirts!

    Suits: late 1930s-early 1940s.

Blouses: Edwardian and their revival in the early 1970s.

Jeans: 1990s (low rise bootcut is a blessing to us hyper thin & tall but still curvy girls)

Purses: Edwardian for formal, late 1960s/early 1970s tooled leather for day to day, and 1990s Guatemalan and Indian bags.

If I had been born in a different time, it would be in 1920, so that as a young woman in the '40s I could dance with my husband Gene Kelly along the Seine (or an MGM set version of the Seine) wearing Christian Dior...that was ACTUALLY designed by Christian Dior!!!

The style of the 40s suits my body type the best, I need that nipped-in structured waist with a slightly A-line skirt. I have such a hard time finding clothes that flatters me on a grad student budget. That's probably why I just give up and wear jeans all the time!
