Wedding Gown Trend Alert: Short & Sweet

Now that you are ready to shop for your wedding day I am taking you through the latest wedding gown trends this week. Now, we want to avoid the insanity of the running of the brides so here is a fresh trend in bridal fashion: short & sweet. After discussing this with coworkers, the consensus is these are very modern and daring. I'm even on the fence; while these dresses are beautiful, I'm not sure if I'd want to wear one on my wedding day. But I think they are a great style for an outdoor wedding - to avoid grass stains on one's train!

(L-R)

I saw several of these in this month's Lucky and I'm with you. I'm on the fence. I can see how they are modern and funky, but at the same time I guess I'm a traditional girl at heart.

I like longer wedding dresses, but the middle one is adorable.

I think these can be a great option for short brides -- or summer brides, or brides with great legs! Tea-length, anyone?

I love the Alfred Angelo dress on the right, as a dress, but I definitely wouldn't wear a short dress for my wedding. I suppose in the right setting -- maybe a casual backyard barbecue, the middle or right dress would be perfect. The dress on the left confuses me though, I can't think of an appropriate wedding situation for a formal-style dress that is short!

I love Romona Keveza, and if I could have afforded one for my wedding, I would have worn one without a doubt. Of these short dresses, that's the only one I really love. When I was shopping in 2005/2006, Melissa Sweet also had a really cute short dress.

If I get married, I think I am going totally untraditional. I am just not a lacey white dress kind of girl. Reminds me too much of cupcakes, I think.

If I had a summer wedding I would wear a shorter dress.

I would only go for a long dress, short is just not for me when it comes to a wedding dress.

I don't think that someone should pick a wedding dress because of a trend but what fits her style. I don't know if that makes any sense, I'm sure the two would compliment each other.

Wedding dresses are long for the most part- but it depends on the woman and her style. The middle one is very cute.

Personally, I feel that my own collection of short dresses are formal enough for any wedding and are reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn in the 1950s. I may be a little biassed, but I wonder if the "Edmonton" or the "Manhattan" gown might make some girls rethink whether a short dress might be right for them. Forget trendy..shoot for timeless! http://www.DollyCouture.net

    Thanks for looking! Smiling
