I don't have credit cards, so I don't really have the option to buy something I can't afford. No worries for me in that regard. Smiling

My personal pocket book has been on a "ressecion" long before the rest of the country so I haven't seen a change in my spending I always try and be as frugal yet fun as possible!

Absolutely. It's hard for me to cut back, because I HAVE the money -- when I can put away a thousand in savings, and pay off a few thousand of husband's medical school loans, and still have money left over for shopping, it's hard to have the restraint to not spend and put it all into savings! Especially when I work 90 hours/week and my only self-indulgence was treating myself to some new shoes!

Instead of buying 4 bags each season I'm only buying 2. I guess more than anything it's helped me purchase items that are classic. My most recent huge purchase was a fur coat. I've now decided that if I want something trendy there are stores like Topshop that I can rely on. I've also noticed a shift in my style choices. I'm now dressing more gypsy, hippie, rock n roll type. I'm drawn to labels I might have not worn in the past.

Yes, the economy has changed my shopping habits. I bought a lot of Fall wardrobe pieces this summer and now I have been returning most of the items to bring my monthly credit card balance down.

The good part: It forced me to really focus on the key Fall pieces that would enhance what the clothes I already have.

My taste are different now. I mix high and low items. I found a nice store in my area that has dresses for under $20 and I will mix them with my chic sweaters, mid priced heels and leather handbags. I also tend to buy more needs than wants.

hahhh... i try to stop. but being on fabsugar doesn't help one bit!!! -_-" but if it makes any difference, i always try to find stylish trendy items @ places like target, forever 21, & h&m... i just can't resist a good sale/deal!!! *sigh*

it's definitely a bad time to have to restrain myself!!!

well i do try to be more aware of what i'm spending..and i don't go shopping for myself unless it's for something that i NEED. i just hope that things pick up for me again cause it's getting to be harder and harder to want to follow trends when i can't afford them.
