Fab Flash: Eva Mendes Gets Censored

Apparently, Eva Mendes is too sexy for America. A few months ago, Mendes's CK perfume ads were banned and now the actress's ads for Calvin Klein's new lingerie line have been considered too raunchy for television by censors in the US.

"I was surprised at the fuss because the ad I did is so typically Calvin, where it's really pushing the envelope. It's so tasteful," said Mendes. "You do see a bit of my breast revealed but it's so quick that I was like, "Oh, come on, guys!"

One would question why showing a little skin gets censored while blood and gore are seen across America's television screens on a regular basis . . .

Thank you. I question that too.

    I also question that.

When I was in Europe I felt so much safer there than here. We are such a violent society.

While I do not think Ms. Mendes' ads were all that scandalous, I find there is more than enough skin on television. I find gratuitous nudity or sexuality boring and insulting to the intelligence of those of us who are not simple. Most commercials will at least periodically have the camera's gaze on an attractive woman, even if she is in the background. Sex sells, but not to me.

On the matter of violence, I find that many people are quick to assume Europe is so much safer, but have you ever actually looked at statistics on violence? Perhaps growing up on the Mexican border makes me feel relatively safe anywhere I travel, but I never take anything for granted and neither should any of you.

Could it really be any racer than the Victoria's Secret ads? Maybe Eva is just hotter than Lima...

I don't think thoses ads are racy at all! I've seen way worse that that! Eva looks great on them!

They are racy AND tasteful, and there is nothing wrong with a woman being seductive and empowered by her own sexuality, as Eva is in these ads.I find them very artistic and sensual.
I hate the camera zoom up and down on women too, although it's not as bad in America as south of the border (Youtube Chile, Argentina, Brazil, etc and fashion show, it's rather sad), but this is not what you see in the ads.
So what if you see a t*t in a sexual way? It's a body for goodness sakes, we all have one. Do these people shower dressed? I still don't see what's so insulting about a nipple.
Funny how these are the same Bible nut-jobs who condemn liberals AND Islam at the same time. They have more in common with the Taliban than anyone else!
On the other hand this chick thinks she is so hot, she gets annoying.

I agree with you guys that we show way too much violence on tv, but we also show way too much sexuality and nudity. I have not seen the commercial, but I think that all lingerie and underwear ads are innaproppriate. It's called underwear for a reason! A girl wouldn't let her dad or brother or a stranger see her in her underwear, but a model will show hers or even her scantily clad, practically naked body. Unfortunately, we live in a culture where morality and decency have no value, and that is why I don't think it is bad that they censored the commercial. However, they need to start being more strict about everything, so that our kids don't end up as violent and sexually immoral delinquents...

Sexually immoral delinquents? Oh boy, hide your children, the homosexual basket weavers are taking over this country with their naked ways and liberal views!
Puh-leez. There is nothing wrong with sex as long as both parties are consenting responsibly.
A lot more people have died in the name of God than in the name of hanky panky. If Bush's biggest mistake were getting love from an intern, a lot more troops and Iraqi civilians would still be alive now.

PS, I walk around in my underwear all the time, did when I still lived at home, and grew up in a naked house. Oddly enough, I thought that was my choice to make, not someone else's.

well what's really funny is that i saw her on leno talking about this ad and she said that she has this clause in all her movie contracts that says NO NUDITY yet she always manages to show things - so i don't know.

i have to say that as advanced as we are here in the US, we are the ones who censor things pretty significantly
