The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Anna Wintour

We saved one of the best for last - the belle of the ball so to speak. Now, this event is one of the most important of the year for the fashion cognoscenti - as you can see from all of our polls! Leave it to Anna to wear one of the most dramatic pieces of the evening. While it looks a bit like fashion armor, if I were Anna this would be my choice too. Bold, provocative, and friggin' fashion forward. What do you think?

Vote on all the Costume Institute Gala fashions here!

Rock on! I love how it looks like fish scales. I also love how she always looks so pissy. Evil

I don't like it at all. And I know her hair is her signature, but come on already, change it up!

Hate it. She just tries too hard nothing about her style is effortless.

as editor of vogue, i would have thought she had more sense to wear something else. anything else.

Why would she wear a short necklace with such a high neckline? That's an obvious fashion error. I like that the dress plays with so many different textures. A weaker soul could not pull this off!

And THIS is the woman who decides what we wear each season? Ugh. She looks like a Yorkie with that hair.

I was thinking EXACTLY what AMP said!!! I'm sorry but it really is time for a change.... I find the hair and the dress much too severe!!! Sad

I'll give her props for going with the look of the season - futuristic. But Anna, darling, try to smile? And maybe grow the hair out a bit? A side-swept bang even?
Whoever said she looks severe, I totally agree. She needs to soften it up a bit.

i have to keep in mind that this is the costume gala and that its inappropriate to not wear something that is off the wall and edgy. that being said, this dress fits perfectly with that ideal
wouldnt it be good if we could hop a flight to anywhere,so long to this life, so much fun pretending, cause bad luck's never endin

People don't get the gala. It's traditonal for the women to dress in a manner similar to the designer whose working is showing. I don't know alot about this year's guy but he was big on feathers, headbands and metallics. That explains the Olsen girls dress the big black one. And also what Dunst and Kate B. were wearing. They dressed in a way similar to the designer's aesthic, get the reference

    Tatti33, she's the editor-in-chief of Vogue.

I totally agree with Duchess, remember last year's theme Anglomania? SJP had that crazy tartan McQueen dress (which I personally loved...)!

She looks fine, nothing exciting, but then maybe she didn't want to outshine the guests.

The style looks to be quite unflattering on her... and the shiny black plus white lace/meshy thing combo? ugh, no thanks!

Not a fan at all. I guess I'm just one for a more traditional look. Maybe this is just too fashion forward for me, ha ha.

Off with the necklace and those thingies on the shoulders. With a more flattering duo she has potential to look much for sophisticated.

It's her job to do this. Anyone else it would be a nightmare, but she is who she is.

I really like the black part, I just wish the whole dress was made out of that material, the underskirt is bleh. I'd loose the shoulderbits aswell, its too much of an officers uniform.

But that shiny fabric, in the layers, would have looked awesome on her, especially with some graphics jewels.
