I'm sorry to report that designer Gianfranco Ferré, 62, the "architect of fashion," died Sunday night in Milan after being hospitalized for a brain hemorrhage. He was noted for being one of the designers who generated the boom in Italian fashion from the eighties into the nineties. Ferré's architectural silhouettes were favored by the likes of Sharon Stone, Elizabeth Taylor, Oprah, Sophia Loren, and Princess Diana. May he rest in peace.

He will truly be missed. Gianfranco who made sculptures out of muses, fabrics, leather and much more. The elegant looks he sported himself and his gentle face belong to my favourite fashion souvenirs.
I will watch his upcoming fashion shows (Spring/Summer 2007) with much emotion and nostalgy.

Another great talent gone to heaven, such a pity.
His ability to create inspiring architectural silhouettes is truly amazing.

I love his quote in response to Diana Vreeland's famous quote, "Pink is the navy blue of India,"

"Naturally pink is the navy blue of India because it's the cheapest of all dyes." - Gianfranco Ferre
