Fall 2007 Couture: Chanel

The Chanel couture show may have taken place amidst rainy weather, the front row attendees may have ruined their shoes in the mud, but the clothes were anything but downtrodden. In fact, the bad weather made the stunning designs stand out even more.

The show opened with variations on the classic Chanel suit, with detailing from sequins to leather to feathers, and closed with the bride covered head to toe in a fantastic feathered dress. Karl Lagerfeld seemed to take inspiration from medieval times - the head coverings remind me of the chain mail knights wore under their helmets, the feathers seem reminiscent of the Middle Age pastime of falconry, and a couple of the dresses seem very Maid Marian. All in all, another masterpiece from Karl!

I abso-freaking-lutely LOVE the "Maid Marian" dress. Anytime a designer comes out with something other than a variation on the strapless dress, I get excited.

Karl Lagerfeld is as close to Coco as one can get. He innovated and brought fresh air into Chanel while sticking to some of its classic guidelines.
This collection is once again blowing me away. We've had mini-mini skirts for the summer by Karl and now he's bringing back the above the knee length (which Coco had always refused).
The waistlines are perfect (not low, not too high).
And although the feathers are omnipresent, they have been used in a very different way from McQueen's Fall 2006 collection.
I'm drooling over some (a lot, actually) pieces of clothing. Oh Karl!

I must be the only one.....I really didn't like this collection:( there was some great structered jackets but other than that I really didn't like it. He is obviously very creative, I could never think of those.I view this as a more costumey(?)collection.
