On Our Radar: The Baggu Bag

Ever since they decided to ban plastic shopping bags here in San Francisco a few months ago, fashionable alternatives have really been on my mind. We've talked about the Anya Hindmarch "I'm Not a Plastic Bag" Tote, and the Marc by Marc canvas tote (got it!), but this new option may be my favorite yet.

The Baggu ("bag" in Japanese), $8, is made out of super strong ripstop material - it holds 25 lbs of groceries, which is equal to the amount 2 to 3 plastic grocery bags can carry! It's machine washable, ethically made in China, and can be folded into a really small pocket-sized pouch when it's not being used. Best of all, it's cute enough that you won't just want to take it to the grocery store - it'll end up going with you (and me) to the beach, the gym, on the airplane - everywhere!

Fab I love how you and the fashion world are supporting this grocery bag movement. I just wish I had got my "I'm Not A Plastic Bag" bag before they sold out.

I just posted a poll about plastic shopping bags [please visit and vote], end shameless plug!

I love this trend of killing plastic bag use. And I have yet to find a large enough, pleasant tote to help me carry my stuff. I love the idea of a foldable one because I can hide it in my purse so there is never a chance that I am without one! the canvas ones that libraries or stores sell are so small for so much money that they are not worth it! Great finds Fab and Syako! I will be picking up a few of these stat.

...Fab first with the Cammie D. bag and now plastic shopping bags? You are reading my mind today.

Thanks so much! I am ordering the pack right now! I already carry a canvas tote, but my hubby calls me a tree-hugger...maybe he will like these a bit more!
