Chloe Sevigny at Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion: Love It or Hate It?

FIT's Annual Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion event brought out a gaggle of fashion savvy ladies. All were there to greet and congratulate Lanvin artistic director Alber Elbaz who received this year's award.

One actress in particular stood out: surprise, surprise, it was Chloe Sevigny! This may be one of the wackiest outfits she's attempted but I have to give it to her for taking the risk. Her top looks awfully like Stella Vine's kooky creations, no? I don't mind her full skirt and booties combination, but with the Malcom X-style glasses, it's a bit much. What do you think?

    I hate the top.

I dont know why people like having other random people's faces on their shirts.

dude she could wear a tube top and Kathie Lee sweatpants. you just put those glasses on and it becomes an artsy "ironic statement" and you're off the hook. But she'll never look hotter than when she is dressed like a Mormon, IMO.

I like the top. Chloe loves to takes fashion risks. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I give her credit for being so daring.

Chloe always does her own thing-i have to respect that. fashion isn't always about being safe.

Love it. She's quirky and makes this outfit work. Also, I don't know how many other people can pull off the ankle bootie with a short skirt.

Rugelach you are so right! It's all about the glasses. Maybe she should wear the glasses with her Mormon garb. That would be a stupendous combo! If anyone could pull off that look, it's Chloe.

she has such a pretty complexion but the glasses are like eating her face. without those, i think i'd like the outfit better. maybe not so much the shoes. is she wearing socks with those? hmmm...

I respect her for taking risks, but this just isn't working for me. The skirt and booties are all right, but the top is just horrible. I might like the glasses with a different outfit, but I don't like them with this.

@ haters, yeah that sounds good I would much rather have her look like everyone else, boring and typical. Why don't we all hire stylist and try and see if we can all look alike, that will be so much fun....she is much more fashion forward then you all would ever hope to be.

holy god. i understand that fashion is about risk-taking and trendsetting, but i think some of you have that confused (no offense!) with dressing as randomly as possible with no amount of thought put into how the outfit works as a whole. i mean good god, look at her. she looks ridiculous. she ALWAYS looks ridiculous. there's a reason why she's never inspired any sort of trend, and that's because she's NOT a trendsetter...and thus, should not be designing a fashion line.

"Wayfarers were brought back into fashion in the mid-2000s, with Chloe Sevigny starting the trend." Taken from wiki.

She is a trendsetter! And that's not some random person's face on the shirt. It's just a pair of eyes.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The outfit is cute, minus the glasses.

I like seeing unexpected, quirky outfits. Chloe is a woman who can pull an outfit like this off.

For me, the outfit is a moot point because her glasses just ruin everything from the start! Not a fan.

I never understood how this woman could be considered a fashion icon. Bleeeech, I never like what she wears, most times it isn't even flattering.
