Ashley Judd put on a traditional Indian bindi at the premiere of the documentary she worked on, India's Hidden Plague. As the YouthAIDS Global Ambassador, Ashley has been very devoted to raising awareness about the epidemic in India and made a trip to the country back in March. At the premiere she spoke about the growing crisis in India, saying "There is an extraordinary, compelling, urgent problem." The program airs November 30 on the National Geographic Channel as part of World AIDS Day.

Whats with the dot on the forehead, seriously I don't get it when these entertainers think they can just step into another culture so superficially. If she really understood the Hindu meaning behind that symbol she would not be sporting it like its a fashion accesory.

Ashley Judd is very involved with increasing awareness about HIV and STDs in the US as well. Has been very active for a few years, I actually thought maybe she had given up acting.

Anyway, can't wait to see the documentary. Totally wasn't aware that India, which has so many other disease issues, was facing widespread HIV also.

She is a good role model. Compare her to the likes of Britney Spears.

the dress seems a bit big, but it's gorgeous ... just like ashley. i adore her - always have. i am so glad that she's backing this worthy cause and talking about it. i'm sure she is well-informed in regard to bindi-wearing and is not doing it to slight anyone. she's much too focused and intelligent than someone like richard gere! LOL!

she looks great Laughing out loud but also good to see her involved with such a good cause, everyone talks about Africa and AIDS, but it is a problem in so many other countries.

the site needs more ppl like Ashley, way more interesting than Britney's legal problems

She's so gorgeous. Just stop talking. I know she's got a brain, but she's also got quite the hefty self-esteem! I heard her on a radio show one morning-GOOD GOD she's was such a snot! That uglies her up a bit to me. I just get so sick of celebrities using their fame to further their issues-Just entertain us!

I love all of the international focus the celebrities are shining the spot light on. But, don't we have issues in this country?

With all of the international focus on causes for good. I feel our own concerns are becoming invisible.

But kudos to Ashley for her work.

India's HIV epidemic is way more serious than Africa's. There just seems to be this weird post-colonial guilt that keeps the focus on the African continent.

She's quite pretty. I always wonder why she isn't a bigger star. She just seems to keep making the same (not very good) movie over and over again.

i agree naima. what's with the bindi? it irritated me when gwen stefani was sporting it, and it's irritating now. please, stop adopting things which you don't understand. these actors need to show some respect...
