Sorry to be a little petty here, but none of those are Menoras. A menora has places for only 7 candles and has nothing to do with Hannukah. The candle holders above are called a "Hannukiya" (plural: Hannikiyot) - same as a menora but holds 9 candles, 8 for the nights of hannukah and one to light them all.

I'm learning, not wanting to be offensive: what's a menora used for if the hannukiya is used at Hannukah?

Here's a nice wikipedia article on the Menora:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menorah

    Here's one about the Hannukiya:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chanukkiyah

Technically, a Hannikuya is a type of Menora, but I believe the only country that still calls it a Menora (when they mean Hannukiya) is the US.

The Menora's use today is more a symbolic one, it's rarely used in conjunction to a certain holiday. It's modern use is mainly being used as the symbol of the state of Israel.

    Shiloh Jolie Pitt -

Aw naw, it's not as confusing as it sounds! The Hannukiyot, which is what Fabsugar posted, are what you find on Hannukah cards and which are lighted on Hannukah, one candle for each night (and the center one to light them all). Menoras look almost the same, but have 7 candle holders instead of 9. The menora is not lit on Hannukah, but it only used in the synagogues. The hannukiya is kind of a "pimped up" menora (only physical difference between them is the number of candle holders), but sometimes the word "Menora" is used when referring to "hannukiya", in the US.

ahaaaa! thanks for the info liron ♥ I'll keep this in mind. I mean all my in-laws know that I'm not jewish but I'd rather be informed of this kind of things before opening my mouth to say something silly Sticking out tongue Thanks again. I'll check out the wikipedia links.

My boss is Jewish. I was considering buying her the first one. It's just so beautiful, but do you think that would be inappropriate?
