In The Nude...Lips That Is

With all the dazzle and dressing up during the holidays it's best to leave some things minimal, or rather, nude. When holiday parties abound, a nude lip whispers subtle femininity. This trend has been gracing the pouts of Hollywood, as seen in this weekend's Life & Style, as well as the Spring '07 runways, as beauty marked by CocoChic. This look is especially necessary when glamming up your eye makeup - to create balance and maintain a complete, not overtly made up, face.

There are some great options listed here, to see my designer and non-designer picks for nude gloss, read more

Maybelline Lip Polish Hi-Shine Color, Nude Flash, $4.99.

Stila Lip Polish, Glisten, $20.

Philosophy Big Mouth Lip Sheer, Nude, $22.

I love nude lips. It actually makes lips look fuller that dark lipsticks look. Sally Hansen makes a good one too (surprise, I know) It is called something like 8 Hour Lip Treatment, and is smells a little like oranges. Lasts a long time too.

My favorite pale lip gloss is "Giggle" by Chanel.

Perfect coverage and just a hint of pale color.

    Luv it!

I only like "nude" lipgloss, if it has a some hint of color to it. Otherwise, I can't stand the look.

These look great on other people, but I'm FAR too pale. I look coffin-ready with the nude stuff. Gotta have a little color.

Jen and la_clique if you are too pale (like me) then get a nude shade that has a hint of rose. It looks really natural but nude at the same time. You would be surprised to see that you probably can pull of nude lips. I have this great light gold lipgloss that looks great to boost natural lip color or mixed with another color

I like to go to overseas places- like Canada!

Another thing is to put just a smidge of a bright (but sheer) pink on top of the nude gloss, then blend well.

JessNess, I'm pale, too. That's why I'll only wear it if, it has a hint of pink in it. Glad you made the suggestion to Jen, and la_clique..very smart of you.

I don't like nude lips. Color looks better.

I like these pale lips to go with my smokey eyes... my fav nude colours are:

    1. Blanketty (opaque beige)
    2. Hue (Sheer pinkish nude)
    3. Faux (Matt pale pink)
    4. Lipglass- Florabundance
    * all from MAC

Its nice to choose a opaque creamy nude color, and you go over with a nude gloss. Makes the color stay stronger and longer.

I lightly condition my lips and then apply concealer all over them. I finish off my nude look by using a slightly pink or peachy lip gloss. It sounds odd, but it looks pretty fabulous. You can make your lips as nude as you want by varying the application of the concealer. Just make sure you top it with a (lightly) color tinted gloss because you can end up looking deathly if you don't.
