No they don't deserve PETA's actions, no one does. Its one thing to be anti-fur and another to be insulting and hurtful. What PETA does falls into the latter category.

I have no respect for the way PETA conducts themselves.

Although I think PETA's methods are over the top I generally agree with their ideals. However calling individuals out for their personally beliefs/fashion is almost always uncalled for. I would never wear fur, but I'm not going to throw paint on or call someone who does names. I mean how would the like it if people threw meat on them when they left a vegan restaurant! I do have to admit those mask are too funny!

Funny how they are against fur when one of the protesters is wearing a faux fur jacket. If you're protesting against it, at least try not to wear something that looks like "it"--MY OWN OPINION...I'm sure someone will beg to differ.

I think they are so ridiculous..if they feel that strongly about it I am sure there is a more tactful way of getting their point across

there are bigger problems in this world than what mary-kate and ashley are wearing.

i agree with the two above me. seriously--rather than make signs and try to be witty...go help animals. standing there does not help them. throwing paint on a fur coat does not make that animal suddenly come to life.

"From July 1998 through December 2007, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) killed over 19,200 dogs, cats, and other "companion animals." That's more than five defenseless creatures every day. PETA has a walk-in freezer to store the dead bodies, and contracts with a Virginia Beach company to cremate them. Not counting the pets PETA spayed and neutered, the group put to death over 90 percent of the animals it took in during the last five years. And its angel-of-death pattern shows no sign of changing."

i know it's mean, but they're billionaires, they can get over it. they clearly already are. plus, and we aren't nomads, it's not like we need animal skin to keep us warm.

This is the best thing I've seen all day. Thank you, PETA, for making some sense. The Olsens are a disgrace and so is everyone who supports them.

well they're just attacking their character and them at this point. its ridiculous. you cant harass and taunt people into seeing your views. life doesnt work that way.

On the other hand, how are synthetic furs good for the environment? Don't they take a LOT of time to biodegrade? (if that is the word)

I hate when groups such as PETA protest using cruel signs such as these. I choose not to wear fur because it is my personal choice. It is unfair to criticize other people in a way that is nasty and unnecessary for making their personal decision to wear fur. Those signs will not make the Olsens stop wearing fur nor do I think they will gain any PETA supporters because no compassionate person would want to engage in something that hurtful. I can't respect groups that choose to spread their message in negative ways.

Gabiu- They're not nearly as bad as authentic fur is. Animal farming is HORRIBLE for the environment.

Also- I'd just like to say that it's obvious how biased this site is when you only report on the more flamboyant things that ONE animal rights organization does, and NEVER report on the wonderful strides that PETA AND other organizations make. Just last week PETA got Zappos to enter a Fur Free pledge. That's monumental and awesome, but do you report about that? No, you just stick the silly demonstrations that are obviously going to get people upset and angry.

I'll stick with supporting the Sierra Club and other such groups that actually ACT on issues facing the world's wildlife, sorry. All PETA spends its money on is more self-promotion.

Thank you, foxie! My thoughts exactly. Yeah, I agree with everyone that maybe PETA was out of line for calling the Olsens hags and tramps, but I don't see anything wrong with PETA protesting their book. If PETA wants to spend their time and money doing it, then so be it.

PETA needs to spend their time educating people rather than taking on two very popular celebrities and insulting them. I find it tacky and I'm not hearing their message.
|

i love the olsens, and there are numerous other celebrities and people in general who wear fur. no need to discriminate on the twins... that's ridiculous

PETA might get a little more accomplished if they were a little more ETHICAL in the way they conduct themselves. Spray painting shops and mocking celebrities who wear fur is not exactly the most ethical way of getting your point across. Treat people humanely and maybe then they'll be willing to see your point of view.

oh my gawd rebecca xoxo THANK YOU - I'm so glad someone said that - animals are not people! while I respect anyone who tries to prevent animal cruelty or is a vegetarian, I do not respect someone who refuses to kill animals but supports abortion (I don't care what anyone says, ABORTION IS MURDER!). plus, while I support the ability (notice I don't say right - it's not a right) to protest, there's really no need to use innappropriate names - oh, and those masks are extremely freaky...

I hate fur as much as the next one, but PETA are being pathetic. I generally love the twins fashion (except, of course, when they wear fur).

Thanks foxie for pointing the incredible things PETA and other animal rights groups have accomplished. The people who say PETA just wastes their time (cnyc1a- "PETA needs to spend their time educating people..."; Cadi con Carne-"All PETA spends money on is self-promotion"; loudserenity-"rather than make signs and try to be witty-go help animals") need to get their facts straight, because PETA does a lot more than that and has accomplished much. However, it is stupid of PETA (and other animal rights orgs) to use such tactics because it alienates people. CuteDimples-why shouldn't people who are against fur wear faux fur? The whole point is to avoid killing animals. They're not against the style. loudserenity- it is more effective to get customers to stop buying products than it is to get companies to change their policies. As long as people want a product, someone will supply it (sort of like the drug trade). Getting people to boycott something is an effective way of getting companies to change their policies because it hurts their bottom line. turquoisepassion- I've seen the PETA Kills Animals website and think it may not be all it's cracked up to be. It's sponsored by the Center For Consumer Freedom, an organization that is also against the "food police" and call the "obesity epidemic" a myth. They are even against warning labels on food. I'm dubious about their agenda.

awwwe most of you doesn't like PETA. i have those masks! haha i asked for it. we have to get rid of some animals, if we don't the world will be in chaos. animals would get crowded. everything should be in balance you know.

I have those masks too 32miles!!!

i do agree with what PETA stands for but i think that their tactics are sometimes a bit over the top. i don't think that they are going to be any more likely to change people's perceptions on fur and animal skins and other inhumane practices by scaring folks than by being calm and strategic about things.

I don't wear fur, but I think this is just mean and unnecessary...as are most of PETA's tactics.

I totally with Gatsby-esque (comennt # 14). I hate the Trollsens, I really do. The only person, whose "fur style" makes me cringe more than them is Cruella De Stone.

*I totally agree with Gatsby-esque. Oh, and the masks are slightly prettier than the twins from hell themselves.

I know they wear fur, but so do lots of other celebrities/people and they are not picked on like this...
