I love beautifully designed makeup (witness
Lancôme's elephant-adorned bronzer, for example). But you know what I don't love? After using the item once or twice, the colors blend together and the perfect design is over.

I've had my eye on this brilliantly printed
Ditte Sofa ( on sale for $1,799.95, was $3,498) for many moons now. The adorable fabric design is by way of
Marimekko, and the Teflon-coated canvas will help to ensure that any coffee stains or unfortunate wine accidents will wash right out. With a kiln-dried hardwood frame and a polyfill-down blend stuffing, this sofa will be both wildly attractive and wonderfully sturdy.

I'm an unabashed Marimekko freak — I flipped over these
mouse pads, because I love integrating my favorite designs into my digital life, and I see that they enjoy doing it too, because they've made
desktop wallpapers in some of Marimekko's classic prints.
I'm typing to you directly from the
Kaiku wallpaper, a personal fave, and I have my eye on a few other Finnish beauts that'll make their way to my background in due time as well.
Oh, technology: democratizing design, one desktop at a time.
Always Mod, a retailer that specializes in selling products from world-renowned Finnish textile and design company, Marimekko, is currently holding their "biggest Marimekko sale ever," offering savings of 20 to 40 percent off of Marimekko items now through July 15th, while supplies last. If you're unfamiliar with Marimekko's bold designs, you can see
some of them here. Here are a few products I wouldn't mind taking home from the sale:

We all know that
Marimekko is too darn hot right now. It's made appearances in the Sex and the City movie (in Carrie's apartment), at H&M stores worldwide, and in major retail catalogs such as CB2. I'm personally loving the color and pattern on this
Marimekko Red on Red Pillow ($19), from Etsy seller WhiffletreeFarm.

If you've yet to tire of its print, you can welcome the
Marimekko Unikko Tray ($29, reduced from $42) into your home for a Spring
garden party, or even just breakfast in bed. I'm envisioning it serving up some fresh lemonade and cucumber sandwiches, perhaps? It would also make an eye-catching catch-all for your foyer landing strip/console, if you have one, or a perky inbox for your
organized desk.

If you're lucky enough to be near an H&M, then I hope you've gone in and checked out the
Marimekko line!
I have, and because I'm totally on a Marimekko kick right now, I found these
awesome mouse pads bearing beautiful designs from my favorite Finnish design company.
The Unikko design (the flower) is out of stock now, but I had to include it, because it's a classic.
Beauty Byte: Marimekko to Launch a Beauty Collection Wow, Marimekko is on a roll lately. Next month, the Finnish textiles giant is debuting a clothing line at H&M, and later this year, it's teaming up with Avon for a collection of makeup.

Marimekko has been around since 1951, but this is the first time that the company has collaborated on a beauty product.
Jackie O. first put Finnish textile brand
Marimekko on the map when she wore their brightly-patterned dresses during JFK's 1960 presidential campaign. H&M decided to honor that tradition by digging into the vibrant Marimekko archives and bringing back the bold retro prints for their
Tribute to Marimekko collection, in stores April 10.
Swimsuits, dresses, scarves, tops, and bottoms will all be available in vivid color combos like red and pink, olive and orange, and red and turquoise.
