
British brand Aquascutum will be expanding its territory into the the US come Fall. The company is
set to launch a line of separates named the London collection at Saks Fifth Avenue locations in August. Meanwhile, Bergdorf Goodman will carry Aquascutum's vintage collection of coats.
“I think there is a huge desire from the American consumer for us, so it’s a very good time for us to be going in,” said president and chief executive officer at Aquascutum, Kim Winser.
The Aquascutum London line will feature blouses, wool skirts, and silk graphic dresses with pricing around $780.

The upcoming
2008 Olympics in Beijing has designers in a frenzy to get their names heard. American sportswear brand Ports 1961 has secured a deal with NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, and the USA Network correspondents to wear its classic designs while covering the exciting events in Beijing.
“When I was first approached to create a capsule collection for the NBC Olympic Commentators, I was honored,” said Tia Cibani, Creative Director of Ports 1961.

Architecture and fashion are becoming increasingly entwined helped along the way by the recent
Skin and Bones exhibition highlighting the similarities between the two disciplines. Now Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid has cemented the relationship by creating a capsule collection for eco-shoe company
Melissa.
The shoe (pictured) will be available in eight different colours from Dover Street Market after London Fashion Week when the shoe will gets its own launch party. Hadid
spoke to Vogue explaining, "I have 30 years of research on different areas of architecture and design and this was a very challenging project, not only in design, but on the technical side.

Under the direction of new creative director and co-president Deborah Lloyd, look forward to a hefty crop of apparel from Kate Spade. After an initial launch exclusively in Kate Spade stores next Spring, the clothing collection will be
available for wholesale in the Fall of 2009.
The full Spring collection, which is boasted by Lloyd to have more apparel than ever before, will sell at retailers including Saks, Bloomingdale’s, and Nordstrom. Being that
last year's offerings were on the cutesy side, I hope this new collection turns out more fashion-forward.

I don't know about you, but I can never get enough of John Galliano. Sure, he designs multiple rtw and couture collections, but he's proving he can do more by signing a five-year licensing deal for John Galliano eyewear. The destined-to-be-decadent creations will surface next Fall, and include women's and men's sunglasses and spectacles.
Galliano's stoked: “I can’t wait to begin a new vision on vision.”
As expected, Galliano glasses will be sold at the best of the best retailers, department stores, and John Galliano boutiques.

Nicole Miller already has a well-established clothing line but she's shifting her focus from the top half of the body to the bottom. The successful designer
is coming out with hosiery, tights, leggings, and socks, due in stores the holiday season, with the entire line arriving in Spring 2009.
"We're going to have a whole new range of prints, jacquards, colors, textures, and metallics,"
Miller said.

Ecco Domani has just added some green power to their
Fashion Foundation by adding a sustainable design award to its existing program.
“The fashion industry as a whole is taking an important step towards eco-conscious design and production. Through this new award we are proud to acknowledge those emerging designers who are using their talent to make a difference in the world in which we live”
, said David Bowman, senior director of marketing at Ecco Domani Wines.
The award will be open to a women's or menswear designer who exemplifies their commitment to sustainability based on three criteria: environment, social equity, and economic viability.
The 2009 winners, one in sustainable design, four womenswear, one menswear, and one accessories designer will each receive $25,000 towards their showing at NY Fall Fashion Week in February.
