Kelly Hoppen and Nicky Clarke hit the red carpet earlier this week for the Vogue Fantastic Fashion Fantasy party. The interior designer and her hairdresser boyfriend opted for slightly matching outfits for the event as they both wore velvet trousers. Whilst Kelly opted for a purple pair, Nicky wore a black pair tucked in to cowboy boots. Celebrity couples wearing matching outfits has never really impressed me that much although at least it's quite subtle here.The luxe fabric of their trousers is making a come back this season for the gothic and oppulence trends, but I'm still convinced. Maybe it makes for a cute luxe jacket but would you wear velvet trousers? Source

Love It or Hate It? The Drapers' Headboard

Whenever there's a scene in Mad Men involving the Drapers' bedroom, my eyes are always drawn to their tufted velvet headboard. Its color, texture, and tufting are over-the-top feminine, and reflect nothing of Don's removed masculinity. Kate was looking bikinilicous on the beach with her beau. Her Diane von Furstenberg bandeau bikini is unavailable online, but if you dig the zigzag print, here it is in string bikini version (contact DVF if you must have Kate's). I'm a fan of wearing rugged jewelry beachside, so Kate's leather bracelets and ethnic necklace add to her Summer style. A black linen dress works for any occasion and her Chloe Paraty bag withstands the sand.

2008 Fall Couture: Giorgio Armani

Can I steal Mr. Armani and bring him home as my personal dressmaker? Once again, the man has worked his magic and the result is an exquisite, finely tailored couture collection that flawlessly blends menswear with femininity. For me, this fusion never gets old. I presume muse Cate Blanchett will look beautiful in all of these designs.

To highlight the more masculine, Armani's high-waisted trousers sheen gives them a dressed up feel. Velvet pants, blazers, suspenders, and oversized, Alber Elbaz-style bow ties are also in this bunch. On the other end, femininity oozes from this collection via flowy chiffon dresses, sequins, and bows. I can see this collection seamlessly melding into the scenery of The Beautiful Fall, set in 1970s Paris. It calls for a sophisticated, empowered woman, not afraid to wear the pants.

Definitely! I love the tufting, the velvet, the color, it's amazing.

Maybe, if I could convince the dude in the house it wasn't emasculating to sleep on this bed.
