If they told Cashmere Mafia's Mia Mason she must live in Fendi's Fall '08 collection all next autumn season, she'd be over the moon, sun, and stars. That's because this collection was filled with luxurious and fluffy fur coats and wide-belts.

But Kaiser Karl didn't forget about the less flashy customer. For them, he provided lots of dim hues and interesting textures: knits, feathers, wool. Turtleneck dresses, ruffled leather jackets, and heavy knit sweaters were all cinched at the waist with masculine belts. Bug-like cocoon coats peeped their bulgly little heads again . . . but I can forgive and forget because the rest of the collection is spot-on!

Get a load of Raf Simmons' funnel necks for Jil Sander. I absolutely love the crispness and the incognito effect they have. It makes me want to flip up the collars of all my coats and jackets for the rest of my life.

Aside from the Fab collar work, Jil Sander remains to be one of the most cool and collected of the fashion pack. Here, the use of heavy tweeds and tucked wools is super strong. Surprisingly, nuances like asymmetry and origami folds work well with the streamlined Sander aesthetic. The color palette may be subdued — black, navy and grey — but better to let the tailoring shine. There are also quite a few perfect everyday dresses, ready to be gussied up with statement jewelry.

The Dolce & Gabbana uomi have ditched sex appeal and embraced a more covered-up countryside style.

Choice materials are rustic: plaid, tweed, a patchwork scarf print, and corduroy. Even the ball gowns had a Little Orphan Annie appeal — they were matte and muted. But there were some luxe elements — furs, sexy jeans, fun lace-up shoes, and silk scarves worn around necks. I'm not loving the new skirt silhouette of Fall — below the knee — but at least these designers offset it with tight knit sweaters on top. Lastly, there is an overarching British sensibility. I think these Italian designers should stick to what they do best: la dolce vita.

I think my Prada flame has been rekindled. Miucca's use of lace has everyone gabbing and it's a sine qua non for this particular collection. It's sexy, sophisticated and unique. Three things to take away from Burberry Prorsum's Fall '08 collection: dramatic coats, statement necklaces and knit beanies. The talented Christopher Bailey yet again injected a kick of cool to the once-conservative brand, and also showed serious frocks and metallic pants. The overall vibe was sophisticated grunge, with moody hues like taupe, grey, and midnight blue. Sticking with the edgy Burberry vibe, studded bags and bracelets complemented the clothes. Minus the silly beanies and oversized coats, I'd rock (and roll) all the pieces in this collection.

With knitwear set to be a huge Fall trend, the house of Missoni, which has always been a leader in the knitwear field, is rejoicing. What a celebration it was on this catwalk: stripes, the signature zig zags, florals, colorblocking, and paillettes splashed around like confetti.

Slouchy tops, pouf sleeves, and knee-length hems firmed up Missoni's Fall aesthetic, with swatches of teal, mustard, cranberry, and orange adorning the otherwise neutral color palette. Speaking of which, some of the color combinations and prints remind me of Prada — does anyone else see that?
