Fab Face Bianca Balti is the perfect girl to star in Missoni's latest Spring/Summer '08 ad campaign; her piercing baby blues entice you and stand out against the dark background. Despite being dressed in Missoni's luxurious designs, Bianca is one with nature. She gives the phrase "hug a tree" a whole new, posh meaning. I appreciate that these ads capture nature at its prettiest and I love the way the colorful flowers float in the lake. What do you think?

I can never resist a Beatles tribute and that's why this Spring/Summer '08 Swatch ad campaign stood out to me when I was reading the digital version of V magazine. The girlie minidresses and shorts the models are sporting paint quite the fashionable picture. I'll admit that I've never thought of Swatch watches as cool, but these ads are helping to change my view. What is especially smart about these ads is that each watch style is complemented with a story. And in advertising, it's all about building that emotional connection with your customer. If you're an earthy kind of girl, chances are urban safari scene will appeal to you. If glitz and glamour is your thing, the dancers in poufy gowns will be right up your alley, or shall I say, gated community. Do these ads spark your interest?

We're always looking for a fashion fix in our lovely city of San Francisco. We just attended the Academy of Art University 2008 fashion show, which celebrated the blood, sweat, and tears the fashion students have endured at the Academy. The event brought out a mixed crowd of students, SF socialites, local press, and noted fashion designers, John Galanos and Ralph Rucci. I was quite impressed with the promising young talents and the collections were not too shabby.

Dress Me Up: Mix Mastering

Etro isn't the only one who mastered the mix for Spring. Dries Van Noten's creations came to life with colors, patterns, with artsy-cum-ethnic undertones. The loudest message from Dries' Spring line was the concept of feminine clashing. Peach fused with army green fused with purple fused with electric blue. It sounds all-over-the-place, and in a sense, it was . . . but the result was cohesive yet funky. Turn your back on matchy matchiness this Spring by drawing inspiration from Dries. One word of advice? If it makes sense together, don't wear it.

Have you ever played with fun-house mirrors? Staring at these Spring/Summer 2008 ads from Blumarine brings me back to those fun times. Finnish model Suvi Koponen is seen lounging on retro pink sofas, wearing Blumarine's lingerie-inspired collection. These ads are quite trippy, like I'm inside a lava lamp, so I can't look at them for more than a minute. Still, I appreciate the novelty and the hypnotizing effect. Despite the busyness of it all, you're able to make out the feminine clothes. Are you feeling these ads? Or are they making you woozy?

I'm always game for something different, and these shots definitely fit that description. The Mondrian-inspired background juxtaposed with Valentino's ruffly Spring couture collection, featuring model Alison Nix, is an unexpected surprise, but I think it works. I love the idea of using geometric shapes and primary colors to back such a soft collection. Are you a fan?

The Look For Less: Etro Spring '08 Fringe Sandals

While some Spring shows had us scratching our heads, Etro's collection had us saying, "Must. Have. Now." One of the factors, besides the ethnic weave skirt, that contributed to our drooling were the fringe sandals. Fringe sandal/boots were also spotted, but the wedges are much more wearable in hot climates. Too bad they're too expensive to be picked off the runway and brought straight to my feet.

Trend Alert: Flares Are Back!

Flares are back! It didn't take long for us to see flared pants back on the runway. Not just limited to jeans; flares have taken on new prints, textures, and colors. Balmain (left) went boho-rocker in a blue and white tie-dyed number paired with a glam sequined top. This retro-inspired look is easy to wear and flattering on almost every body. I for one, am glad to see flares back in action — are you?

Fab Read: Net-A-Porter.com Notes Volume V

I was wrapping up my workday when an unexpected package arrived at my desk. Oh my, it's from Net-a-Porter! I ripped rapidly and came face to face with a medium black book titled Notes, Volume 5. The cover didn't do much explaining so I flipped through, and a found a treasure at my fingertips. You too can get your hands on this free, limited-edition treasure when you buy from the retailer. It has up-to-the-minute info on the Spring/Summer trends, glossy editorials, and a fun article about Studio 54.

One of the coolest parts? It provides a product number next to each item, so you can easily shop the item online. Notice I said one of the coolest; the fancy stickers of runway photos and must-have accessories take the cake. Towards the end, there's a nifty "My Notes" section, a "Wardrobe Planner," and a "My Sizes" sheet. Beyond cool. Thanks, Net-a-Porter!

It's no secret this Spring is set to be saturated with color. Lanvin got the inspiration rolling by placing their deliciously bold party frocks in a painterly setting. Renaissance colors embolden the wildflower background and set off the vividly colored dresses and the model Olga Sherer's pale skin. Photographer Steven Meisel was an absolute visionary in his approach. These may be some of my favorite ads of the season — what about you?

I highly doubt Domenico and Stefano would want their pieces worn in such a clashing manner. Giambattista Valli went all out with his Spring '08 runway necklaces. His gravitation towards neck pieces comes at no surprise considering he never takes off his single-strand pearls. Perhaps you don't share in Valli's love of gargantuan jewelry or pearls; find a size and style that works for your personality. An outfit doesn't always call for a necklace, but sometimes it's refreshing to take the focus off the clothes and onto the jewels. Maybe you're into delicate charm necklaces or chunky chokers . . . or better yet, both. I say, keep an open mind, decorated neck.

March Shopping Madness: Sunnies Days

American writer Dorothy Parker once said that men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses, but I beg to differ. Sunnies days are here again. Just like clothing, the type of sunglasses you choose determines how the world will perceive you . . . so choose wisely!

At Valentino's Spring '08 show (left), these polka dot sunnies were whimsical and fun. Your new sunnies should be unique, but they must also match your face shape. Don't insist on wearing Jackie O-style glasses if your face is really narrow and long. Adversely, don't try mini round sunnies a la Mary-Kate Olsen if your face is round. Remember, the point is to look suave, not silly!

The key to pulling off this look is to stack them on one wrist only or you'll end up looking like an over-accessorizer. Also, group themes and complementary colors together. Have fun . . .
