To you, this American Apparel Unisex Sheer Jersey Scarf ($15) may look like your average scarf, but let me and Fab reader Lolita29 tell you, it's not. I just came across a photo of Lolita wearing the scarf as a sweetheart-style top. I know scarves are sometimes worn as tops, but hers doesn't look like a scarf worn as a top; it looks like a top.

Trend Alert: Modern Mustard

Pardon me, would you have any Grey Poupon? Modern mustard is the latest hot hue. Hear it from Michael Kors when he says, "I think mustard has an automatic warmth to it. They work like the solid that's not a solid. A good investment piece isn't always black pants or a white dress."

This yellowish green looks best on textured fabrics, like a sweater, and if the color doesn't suit you skin tone, opt for a striking belt or bag. How will you spread your mustard?

The fashion world is heavily influenced by Africa and Asia as we speak. And it's a good thing because those countries have a lot of undiscovered trends to offer. British designer Matthew Williamson was ethnically inspired for Spring, and as a result, we saw a lot of beading, mixed prints, and bold colors. To make the yellow mini dress Anja Rubik is wearing more interesting, Matthew threw on a khaki jacket and a beaded belt. If you want to channel a faraway place this Summer, you should do the same.

Fab Flash: Woody Allen Sues American Apparel

American Apparel has faced no shortage of controversy, and it looks like they're not turning over a new leaf just yet.

The clothing company has been sued for $10 million by director Woody Allen, who claims AA used his image on billboards and the Internet without his consent. The ads, which went up in May 2007, depict Allen as a rabbi, a shot which the lawsuit alleges American Apparel ripped off from Allen's 1977 movie Annie Hall.

American Apparel, like Abercrombie & Fitch, is well-known for their provocative advertising, mostly involving women in suggestive poses. Do you think this takes it to a new level?

Fab Flash: American Apparel Founder on Trial

The founder of American Apparel, Dov Charney, is being accused of vile language and acts by a former employee.

In the civil sexual harassment case, which begins in Los Angeles tomorrow, ex-American Apparel employee Mary Nelson charges that Charney once had a meeting with her wearing only a strategically placed sock, invited her to perform lewd acts with him, and then fired her when he learned she planned to meet with a lawyer. Already, Charney has admitted during a deposition to walking around his office wearing only American Apparel-made underwear, sleeping with employees, and referring to women in derogatory terms. Talk about a class act!

On Our Radar: American Apparel Does Vintage

Fab loves vintage, eBay loves vintage, and now American Apparel loves it, too. The LA-based company opened its first vintage store, California Vintage, on Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park. It sells hand-picked clothing from the 1950s through the 1990s, along with American Apparel pieces that may not be available at the regular stores. So why vintage and why now? Employees came up with the idea after seeing the company's basement, which was brimming with vintage items. Still, there wasn't enough for an entire store so professional vintage buyers were hired to bulk up the goods.

For those of you who are against American Apparel's vulgar and sexually-charged ads, California Vintage is slated to be more tame. If you're in LA, check out the store and give us the scoop!

A Fabby Halloween: Veruca Salt

Veruca Salt is a spoiled brat. She's the only child of a wealthy couple, and a real daddy's girl. She "wins" a Golden Ticket in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory by having her Daddy's factory workers go through thousands of Wonka Bars. In fact, her personal mantra is: "I want it NOW!" — she sings a whole song centering around those four words.

Veruca would like to think she's one of a kind, but her look is actually pretty easy to put together. Well, almost. Don't forget the sour face and the blonde mink coat she's so proud of. And feel free to throw a temper tantrum here and there: this girl is one bad egg; that's what Wonka's egg-sorting machine judged her, after all.

A Fabby Halloween: Barbarella

Apparently, Barbarella was the star of many male fantasies back in the day. It's no wonder why — just look at the Queen of the Galaxy. Jane Fonda wowed audiences in the 1968 erotic science fiction Barbarella. In retrospect, the rinky dink special effects wowed me upon first viewing, as did Barbarella. With her teased blonde mane and Paco Rabanne designed wardrobe she embarked on wild intergalactic adventures, and love affairs, in style. Part fetish-wear, part space age chic, every girl should play the Queen of the Galaxy in her lifetime.

Special tip: when I was Barbarella I raided my local fabric store for metallic and sparkly fabrics. I sort of twisted and pinned them wherever they worked (and to give me coverage in sensitive areas). And don't forget about fun with plastic!

A Fabby Halloween: Simply Irresistible

You've heard me go on about how much I love Robert Palmer girls before. Not to sound like a broken record but they are too cool for school. They first appeared in his "Addicted to Love" video and were so popular he decided to include them in his similar, but better, video for the Fab song "Simply Irresistible." The song rocks, he rocks, the girls rock. And as a costume, this look is easy, cheeky and sexy. I would announce yourself as being ""Simply Irresistible," not just a Robert Palmer girl — it's more alluring.

For props, an electric guitar is ideal, but I threw in a little electric guitar necklace if you don't want to be too literal. These girls were all eye candy and didn't speak a word, but their dance moves were spicy. I'd learn some and you'll be the life of the party.

I wasn't a Senior bitch in high school. I was so over high school by the time the fourth year rolled around. I was attending college parties and eagerly awaiting college. I wasn't a bitch, I was aloof.

But, after seeing Dazed and Confused I so wanted to be a Senior bitch. Parker Posey, who played Darla, was my favorite. If you haven't seen the movie add it to your Netflix now, but the scene pictured is when the Senior bitches haze the incoming Freshman girls. These four foxes spray and squirt the girls with raw eggs, flour, peanut butter and ketchup — yum! They do have the courtesy of driving them through a car wash to rinse them off.

This costume is easy and breezy; but learn this line, as Halloween is the only time you can say it without repercussions: "Wipe that face off your head bitch!" Go Darla!

We have been gabbing a lot about Back to School and Rihanna's look here in London is very school-girl chic. Though she has one too many accessories, her high-waisted jeans, bib-front blouse and grey vest are spot on. The skinny animal print belt is also a nice touch. Hello my name is FabSugar and I'm addicted to American Apparel. Okay, now that I got that out of the way, I can go on and on about how much I adore this Poplin Reversible Vest, $36, that comes in eight color combos.

The first thing that appealed to me is that it's reversible - coolness. If one day I am feeling blue, I can wear the light blue side. If the other I am feeling dark, I can wear the black side. Heck, if I'm feeling really excited, I can wear bright turquoise! I also love that it looks so crisp and clean against a white tank. It would spice up any old jeans-and-t-shirt outfit in an instant. Fabworthy indeed!
