The BCBG girl has tossed her frills and pouf for fluid, sexy clothes. Nice. Not many designers bring such a mix to the front row — Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Leigh Lazark and Alexandra Richards — and though these personalities are all so different, they will each find a look their own in this Spring collection. From smart day dresses to utilitarian vests and jackets to goddess gowns, the Azria team exhibited a grown up, but still youthful, collection.There were even some tough black numbers for those Gossip Girl fans — namely Taylor Momsen who showed up at Fashion Rocks with Max Azria in tow in an itty bitty BCBG LBD. Max said Taylor was "his new model," maybe that means the IMG model will be his next campaign star? We'll see. In the meantime, feast your eyes on a fanciful palette, from icey neutrals to shots of brights. As well, some Nina Ricci-esque silk pants broke up the slew of adorable dresses. BCBG ads have never blown me away . . . until now. Serafima, Tanya D and Nicole Trunfio show off the clothes wonderfully, despite blurry visions passing to and fro. Patrick Demarchelier captured the youth, beauty, and even an element of cool for the brand. The models are a bit whitewashed, but I suppose that makes the images more striking; they look like mannequins. Normally I would like a bit more personality from the talent, but the talent was all in the clothes and behind the lens. I can't wait to see this one in a full glossy, what about you?

We all loved this BCBG dress on Ashlee back in September when she broke it out for the MTV Video Music Awards. Between the body conscious fit, voluminous hem, and paneled bodice, there's a lot to admire. Apparently, race car driver Danica Patrick didn't think it was too shabby either — she wore it for an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman yesterday. Dress Me Up: Oh, Sheer

See-through clothes make most gals say, oh, sheer. But we can't avoid the trend altogether because it was everywhere on the Spring runways, including BCBG (left) and Marc Jacobs.

What we can do is find a sheer style that works for our lifestyles and body types. That's precisely what a good friend of mine did recently when she bought a see-through watercolor slip and wore it as an ultrafemme dress.

The key is to find a slip to pair underneath. Pick a fun color so it purposefully shows and mimics the runways. The next time you hit up a department store, don't overlook the lingerie department. Find a sheer slip that can pass as a dress or top, wear it with a colorful slip, and sheer on!

Trend Alert: The Weave

I have always been drawn to the weave. I think it's my lifelong adoration for Bottega Veneta (see amazing Spring wedge at left) and its luxurious woven leathers. Because Bottega has been around for so long, many copy cats have chimed in on the earthy motif. On shoes, this style is ideal — it's interesting, cool and slightly '70s — right up my alley.

"This is for the 20-to 30-year-old who is not yet ready for my contemporary or designer lines," the designer said. You should expect the same styles as the higher-end lines, with more casual options and lower prices. Two collections will be available — Casual and City — with both offering denim, dormwear, clubwear, and work clothes. Wholesale prices start from $18 to $148. High-end styles with low-end prices? Nice!

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008: BCBG Max Azria

No matter the silhouette or color palette of BCBG's Fall 2008 collection, one thing was a constant much like the Spring 2008 collection: belted waists.

Floor-length dresses, mini frocks, tulip skirts, long blazers, pleats, one-shoulder styles, and silky fabrics were all tied pretty with rope-like belts, which provided an overall at-ease vibe. The silhouettes and fabrics were far more interesting to me than the color scheme, which included mostly neutrals and some mellow jewel tones. I envision a stylish but safe fashionista embracing this collection.

Speaking of safety, one model took a spill on the runway. It doesn't happen very often with such professional models but when it does I must report. I believe it was Anabela Belikova — but she bounced right up. A smooth save, a smooth collection.

Hervé Léger by Max Azria will stage its first fashion show since the mid-'90s on Sunday, February 3 at 11 a.m. in Bryant Park, during New York Fashion Week. This will mark a historic day in fashion: the first time Hervé Léger will be showing in the U.S (the collection was originally shown in Paris). It will also be the first time that an American designer, via the French-Tunisian Max Azria (left), will be producing three major fashion shows for three different collections during New York Fashion Week. So many record-breaking events — I can't wait!

Artists have always been enigmatic creatures. Andy Warhol? Pablo Picasso? Frida Kahlo? The list goes on and on. But artists can even inspire other artists. Such was the case of Marc Jacobs and artist Richard Prince; this inspiration caused a complete bouleversement of the Louis Vuitton Spring '08 collection.

Even earlier then that, Stefano Pilati dipped into the paint bucket with his Cruise collection for Yves Saint Laurent, as daringly modeled by Demi Moore. I'm digging these artsy brush strokes but I know there's different strokes for different folks so are you feeling inspired?

Fab Flash: Karen Elson Named New BCBG Postergirl

It never ceases to amaze me how fast model moms kick it into high gear postbirth: First with Natalia Vodianova walking the Paris runways three weeks after having her third child and now with Karen Elson, who has just been named the face of BCBG's Spring campaign.

Karen gave birth to her second child in August and replaces another model mom, Angela Lindvall. Patrick Demarchelier photographed the series, which is sure to be stunning — Karen's light complexion and blazing red hair will look perfect in BCBG's washed-out Spring collection.

Look of the Day: Outsmarting the Rain

BCBG Chiffon Tie Front Blouse: Love It or Hate It?

A top with too little fabric is a bad idea for a number of reasons. A top with a too much fabric, like this BCBG Chiffon Tie Front Blouse, $106, isn't quite right either. I'm beginning to feel a bit like Goldilocks here, but you really do have to have it juuust right. I mean, I'm all for layers of chiffon, but when they're on a top like this, the nice feminine shape that should be accentuated is hidden underneath all the fabric. What about you: are you lovin' this top, or leavin' it?

When I saw Jennifer Hudson wearing BCBG's Drape Sheath Dress back in July, I thought it hugged her figure so well and was just the right color for her. Today, I came across actress Lauren Leech wearing the same dress at the Sydney White premiere. Both ladies bring a completely different vibe to the dress. Jennifer is va-va-voom and sexy, while Lauren is girly and simple. I prefer it on Jennifer because the dress drowns Lauren out. Who do you think wore it better? Source

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2008: BCBG

Hello lover! The gauzes and tulles that the feminine master Max Azria sent floating down his runway were captivating; they complement his Spring themes of luminosity and transparency perfectly. The corsetry was refined, the pleated full skirts of the dresses divine. Everything seemed to be belted at the waist (take note!), while loose origami pleating was a favorite embellishment. The grey and beige palette, punctuated with blushes and mustards...puts me in the mood to skip Fall and head straight for Spring! A much more wearable collection than the heavy and disorganized Fall collection, I'm sure the starlet trio in the front row - Ashlee, Brittany Snow, Sophie Bush - will be popping up in these luminous designs.

On a separate note, I have to wonder: Vogue editor Anna Wintour was sitting in front of me at the show. Did she approve as much as I did?

LC showed up to "The Hills" after show clad in a romantic Nanette Lepore ruffled frock, but her attitude was anything but sweet. She blatantly dissed Audrina's man, Justin Bobby, on several occasions and justified it as her merely being honest and real. I mean, her lack of enthusiasm for JB is warranted, but she's been too Negative Nancy lately. Anywho...back to her ensemble, it is super feminine and classy - the way a girl's girl should dress!

Trend Alert: Handkerchief Lace

Lace during the Summer doesn't make much sense to me, when I want light and flowey fabrics. Unless, it's the vintagey, bohemian handkerchief lace I love so much. I managed to salvage a turquoise top from the 80s with handkerchief lace and silver slivers along the sleeves from my mom's closet and it's really fun - especially when I'm my most tan. While the selections come in mostly white or black, blues make the old-fashioned detail seem ready for a water taxi around the island for sure.

Max Azria has been thinking about coming up with a new brand icon for his BCBG company for the past fifteen years - the current BCBG Max Azria logo (which is basically BCBGMAXAZRIA in a specific font) has been difficult to fit on some of the smaller clothing items, he told WWD.

Finally, he has settled on the butterfly logo, right, which is an abstract of two back-to-back Bs. I love the new logo, and might have to use the excuse of checking it out on the tags so that I can go shopping at BCBG!

Trend Alert: Geometry

As much as my mom will tell you I was a good student at math, I hated Geometry. I don't know what it was but I struggled with angular equations; I think it's a left-brain right-brain thing. I did enjoy Algebra though...Enough about my brain, point is: I'd rather wear Geometry than learn it! These striking prints have a decidedly 60s feel to them, but are plenty modern with updated styling. Give your wardrobe a smart boost with one of these perplexing prints.

Trend Alert: Gladiator Sandals

What to wear on the way to the forum? Why, a luxe pair of gladiator sandals. These may not be for everyone, they are a bit masculine and daring, but I for one love them. They have a very exotic feel and when worn with a slinky trapeze style dress you create a look that is totally sexy - trust me. Also, a look that is very comfortable! My only suggestion is to wear any ankle straps with a good bit of leg showing as to not cut off the length of the leg. Oh, and stay away from the lions!

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2007: BCBG

BCBG delivered a morbid, yet feminine collection. Dark, flowy things out of a Tim Burton film graced the runways in dark, muted greys, olive green, ivory and a cameo of chili pepper red. Dresses were the main silhouette and underneath were grey opaque tights. Beaded trim, crochet, applique, and chains provided intricate detailing, while oversized, billowy waists and sleeves weighed the collection down. Youthful knit skully hats accompanied most looks.

A few of my favorite looks: a strapless chilli pepper red dress with red plaid paneling and spider web-like neck piece; a belted quilted olive green coat dress; a knit fur vest over a smoke chiffon trapeze dress.

Overall, I was not very impressed by this dark, moody collection. I am an avid BCBG fan and don't think I'll be shopping them for Fall 2007.

The Look For Less: BCBG Max Azria Taffeta Shirtdress

I am crazy about almost every item of clothing that BCBG Max Azria comes out with. But if I really bought every BCBG item I loved, I'd be completely bankrupt. Just yesterday, in fact, I fell for this BCBG Max Azria Taffeta Shirtdress, available for $332 here. This piece puts a cute, tailored twist on the little black dress, with velvet trim, a tulle petticoat, and cute covered buttons.
