As you peruse my December most wanted you may notice there is not a party dress in site. That's because this year I'm making it my mission to dust off party dresses of yesteryear and spruce them up with new accessories and jewels. Sometimes it's all about the oldies but goodies. These sparkling Betsey Johnson chandelier earrings, for example, can take a silky jewel toned dress from bold to bolder. Since we're all tightening the purse strings this year, there's no reason to sacrifice style, and happiness. And there is every reason to celebrate friends, fam, and fashion.

Bottega Veneta's first resort campaign left my eyes yearning for more. Sometimes a half face shot is all you need when you're as beautiful as Colette Pechekhonova. Shot by Vanity Fair's Todd Eberle, the ad evokes a clean, calm aesthetic with Colette posing in an ill Bottega Veneta blue leather trench coat. “Eberle explores the nuance and subtlety of architecture,” said Maier. “He brought a unique understanding of line and color to the images, balancing abstract ideas with the individuality of the woman.” I like how the blue leather contrasts the bright green crocodile clutch. Note how Colette's natural makeup allows for full attention on Bottega's luxurious goods. What do you think?Source

Gwyneth is a wife, mommy, actress, and has her own website. Still, she always looks super stylish and put together, even at the airport. If that doesn't inspire us to always put our best foot forward, then I don't know what will. In her latest newsletter, she talks about her need for functional fashion so her outfit here makes sense. She threw on comfy leggings, flat Bottega Veneta riding boots, a patent Tod's bag, and a gray scarf to provide some color. Fabulous and travel-ready.

Sarah Michelle Gellar wore this dramatic and classy Bottega Veneta strapless black gown at the Costume Institute Gala and she chose to accessorize with a crocodile clutch and artsy earrings. Christina Ricci wore the same dress at the Chopard Party in Cannes pairing her look with a clutch similar to Gellar's and opted to keep her earrings simple. Trend Alert: Sleepy Suiting

If only all of us could look as cool as Emina on the Bottega Veneta Spring runway in sleepy suiting. Well, we can certainly try! Who's with me? I suggest you wake up and dust off your suit trousers, raid your boyfriend's/brother's closet and get to work. However, the key to this look is to appear totally nonchalant. Now, we're working hard for the unfussy look, therefore unkempt hair, bedroom eyes and little (or no) accessories are perfect bed buddies.

The Look For Less: Bottega Veneta New Pyramid Shoulder Bag

Bottega Veneta is one of my favorite handbag brands, and a caramel confection like this Bottega Veneta New Pyramid Shoulder Bag ($1,584, originally $1,980) reminds me why. The trademark weave is absolutely sumptuous, but that price tag keeps my BV count to one for now.

Trend Alert: Turning Japanese

Some trends take a while to warm up to. Such was the case with turning Japanese. Don't get me wrong: I love sushi, martial arts films and Memoirs of a Geisha, I just haven't found any items that suit me from "The Land of the Rising Sun." Alas, fashion has worked its mojo once again and origami folds, cherry blossoms and obi belts have some serious staying power — Rachel Weisz turned Japanese in Alexander McQueen's shift dress at left. Turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese I really think so . . .

Trend Alert: Neutral Bags

When caught in the middle of fashion crossfire keep your carry all neutral. Meaning: When you have a very colorful or busy outfit going on, a neutral bag can save the day. There's something crisp and luxurious about a pale colored bag. Be sure you don't leave this fragile hued friend in another danger zone though, i.e. a dirty floor. It's a give and take relationship, really.

Bottega Veneta is known for its intricately woven bags. Too bad it's also known for its steep prices, which go for $1000 and up. Even though this Bottega Veneta Metallic Knotted Clutch is on sale ($5,159, originally $7,700), it's still crazy expensive. It's beautiful, elegant, and will surpass time and trends. Now only if there were a cheaper but still well-made option. Wait, there is!

Ok, I have a confession to make: I have seen the first episode. Let me just say: the new contenders are thrown a curve ball on their very first challenge. You know how the first challenge is usually to work with scraps like recycled materials and funky junk? Heidi and Tim steer them in a total opposite direction. Try to decipher that. The result? The first elimination and a really good feel for who the strong contenders are. I have leaked enough...

All this time I have been drawn towards the opulence of gold and I forgot about the power of silver shock. While I am a golden girl when it comes to jewelry, I love metallics just as much as the next fashionista — if not more. A shock of silver is more sci-fi and glam rock than gold though. So, to tame your look and avoid looking too costumey, pair your silver shock with modern pieces — a cool blazer and organic denim. If you are going for the Barbarella look though — Halloween costume alert! — glittery eye shadow is a must.

There is one thing that I think of when October rolls around: Halloween! It makes sense for the Fab favorite holiday to be the holiday where you are required to dress up and be someone else for a night right? Halloween is the time to get creative with garb and prove to the world you can be sexy, scary or funny — in excess. Me? I usually go for sexy, since I'm fairly buttoned up the other 364 days of the year. More Halloween inspiration is in the near Fab future, but in the meantime, here are some favorites to get me in cold weather fashion shape.

So I mentioned I'm fairly buttoned up most of the time, but I do love me some animal prints, and this Banana Republic Silk animal-print top, $48, is a beaut.
Call them go go boots, call me lover. These Bottega Veneta Patent Boots, $990, are hot and I dig the stacked heel. For days I'm not feeling so retro, a glimpse under some dark denim boot cuts is very Marianne Faithfull.
I'm sorry, but these Yves Saint Laurent Charlotte Pumps, $495, are fine. In person, they're finer. And all things considered — YSL, fine leather, unique architectural wooden heel — that price is not too exorbitant.
Nothing says cozy chic like a layering piece such as this Lux Fairisle Sweater Dress, $58.
I'm not an advocate of leggings, except in times of travel, so these Vince
Side Zipper Pants, $195, are a cool alternative.

Fab's Going To Fashion Week! My Style Survival Kit

The countdown to New York Fashion week has officially begun! So obviously I'm super excited. What's more, Fab will be a guest blogger on ELLE.com! For real. This is big time ladies - and you'll have to check me out over there! While some of you are helping to conjure up some fabulous looks for me, I thought I could enlist your help in more pre-fashion week preparedness.

I have been gathering some survival items the past couple weeks and I just made a trip to the drugstore to stock up on some more. I thought it would be fun to share but also, let me know if I'm forgetting anything! As for my fashion week wardrobe and packing - stay tuned!

Here's what you see:

Adora dark chocolate calcium supplements; healthy and chocolatey snacks!

Band-Aids. Though I'm bringing mostly comfy (cute) shoes, it will be hot & humid and I'll be on the go = prime blister situation.

My Miu Miu specs. Here's a Fab secret: I'm near-sighted.
Band-Aid Blister Block. Can you tell I've suffered from blisters before? They're the worst!
Cliff bars, Stride gum, Airborne, YSL lip gloss - all necessary to keep Fab going, and going, and going.

Last but not least, facial blotters. Again, signature color (no, I did not plan that).

Fall Glimpse: Perfect Pumps

While I always look to Balenciaga's Nicolas Ghesquiere for magnificiantly over-the-top shoes, it appears his creations are in the minority for Fall. Perfect pumps in modern, classic shapes strutted down the runways - and what is that I see? A variation of pointed toes? Could the round toe be making a departure? Perhaps. I adore this black pump with wooden heel at Yves Saint Laurent - talk about a power shoe!

We all know by now that imitation is one of the highest forms of flattery. The pioneer of woven leather bags, Bottega Veneta, must have accepted this a long time ago. I am proud to announce that I own a Bottega. It is vintage, black and a long shoulder bag - and it screams easy luxe. It's my Saturday night bag a lot of the time because it just makes me feel alright. For those who have yet to score a new or vintage Bottega, there are less expensive options than the originator. Enjoy!

Come Fab Finding With Me: Lovely Easter Brunch

I couldn't help but notice a yummy picture of eggs benedict in Team. theotherhalfofme has started a group asking for help to put together an outfit for her birthday brunch. Though this is a private group, it inspired this Fab Finding. I'm actually going to be in San Diego for Easter weekend for a little mother daughter escape. I haven't been since I was a wee lassie and my mom and I made some Easter brunch reservations at a nice outdoor restaurant. You all know I'm not a fan of pink, but I do love the festivity of Easter so I'll start you off with this Bottega Veneta Chain handle bag, $2,760.
