Net-a-Porter's new Runway By Designer feature is the closest we're going to get to shopping directly from the runway. Choose your favorite designers, say Stella McCartney or Bottega Veneta, and peruse their Fall '07 runway shows. When you see a look you like and are willing to put your money on, click on it and bring it home. Now you're on your way to being the cyber version of Anna Wintour or Corine Roitfeld. Not a bad place to be!

Every school has one, or a pack, and these girls pretend to come from nothing and be all tough when, in fact, they were born with silver Tiffany spoons in their mouths and are secretly rebelling against their parents. The wild thing's actions may be quixotic, but the ride is guaranteed fashion fun.

There is no excuse to sacrifice style, not even when hitting the books.

From the Vermeer-inspired berets to the sheen in the circle and pencil skirts to the rich color palette, it's hard to hate this girl. Consider her a frenemie? Truce.

There's no stopping the bracelet brigade. It is indeed the season of the wrist. Tuck away those simple earrings and dainty rings, jewelry remains a way to make a statement. Karl was cuckoo for bangles and cuffs at both his Fall RTW (right) and Cruise 2008 (left) collections. So if you've forever been jonesing for classic Chanel wristwear get ready for an influx. Pile on the drama like at Louis Vuitton (middle), where Marc Jacobs didn't hold back and chose to twin his metallic bangles with an even more metallic clutch.

My styling tip? All you need is a black long-sleeve turtleneck, some tailored jeans, pile those bracelets on and you are cocktail-ready. Tchin-Tchin!

Trend Alert - Special Runway Edition! Revenge of the Knits

Goodie goodie gum drops. If anything will get you in the mood for drab, nippy days these will. Get ready for the revenge of the knits soon to be in shops near you. Or, you can approach this trend the old-fashioned way and put your knitting skills to work. My knits du jour? That grey Stella McCartney cardigan (left) is so very fashion forward, while that slim knit dress at Celine (right) is classic and chic. As for the red melting knit concoction at Sonia Rykiel (center), love it for show but not so much for play!

Embark on new fashion territory with a mad hat. Hats can add a certain something to an outfit; whether it's topping off a look to be more polished, more street, more cute or more cozy, I feel hats are underutilized. Many fear hats and if this is you, this is the season to break out of your comfort zone and experiment! You can channel Isabella Blow with an artistic hat like at Donna Karan (left), you can fight the freeze with a fur hood à la Marc by Marc Jacobs (center) or you can sass up the town with a knit beret Twinkle style (right). As you can see there's a hat for every occasion so go a little mad with hats this Fall!

Trend Alert - Special Runway Edition! Miu Miu Hosiery

If you're totally on board for some plumage this Fall, I wonder if you will have the want to pull off Miu Miu's unique hosiery styling. Look at the runway selections below, look at the model's midriff areas and look no further for a no doubt Miuccia Prada bizarro styling idea. She decided to pull the top of the pantyhose from under the skirt over the top. Now Miuccia has a way of setting trends, and I'm a Miu Miu devotee, but I'm not so sure of this one. Runway fashion fluke, or does this trend have real staying power? You tell me!

Dior fine jewelry designer Victoire de Castellane has some serious talent - what I wouldn't give to have a piece of her work. Someday maybe, but until then, there's a cheaper solution; I can get the same style of costume jewelry for a much more affordable price!

Fall Glimpse: Perfect Pumps

While I always look to Balenciaga's Nicolas Ghesquiere for magnificiantly over-the-top shoes, it appears his creations are in the minority for Fall. Perfect pumps in modern, classic shapes strutted down the runways - and what is that I see? A variation of pointed toes? Could the round toe be making a departure? Perhaps. I adore this black pump with wooden heel at Yves Saint Laurent - talk about a power shoe!

Fab Flash: Major Fall Accessories Trends

Fall is many months away but it's never too early to report the upcoming trends so we're here to dish!

The top trends for Fall were highlighted last week at AccessoriesTheShow, Accessorie Circuit and showrooms. Brace yourselves for more metallic handbags in patent leather, exotic skins and in shades like pewter, bronze and gunmetal. But don't expect to see big, bulky bags. Fall is going to bring smaller and more practical styles to the streets. Fashionable customers are really looking for great shapes and functional zippers and compartments.

In the jewelry department, you're going to see a sea of silvers to match the grey trend. But don't do away with your gold bling just yet as it'll also come in handy (case in point: Alex Woo's gold cuff is selling like hotcakes).

So while you're out shopping for that sexy swimsuit, keep these Fall trends in the back of your mind and start your wish list so you're not overwhelmed when the leaves start to fall.

Paris Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Nina Ricci

Belgian-born designer Olivier Theyskens is now at the helm of Nina Ricci. You can see his street fashion cred and moody perspective in this Fall 2007 collection.

I thought it was an emotional back and forth between drifting heavenly visions and sadly beautiful waifs. If the white-grey-yellow color story or asymmetrical ruffling looks familiar it's because this was the designer Reese Witherspoon chose to wear throughout awards show season. And we all know it worked for her. It is this juxtaposition of light and dark, happy and sad, that worked for Reese. While she constantly looked dynamite, amidst a divorce, there has to be some sadness dwelling behind that killer smile and bright blue eyes. Just a thought, but I see Reese's strength, but undeniable sadness, on this catwalk. Fluid tailoring, tear-drop shaped blousons, and deconstructed, ie. wrinkled, gowns were fresh, although questionably wearable. Speaking of questionably wearable, dig the feathers in the hair - a magical touch.

Paris Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Giambattista Valli

Giambattista Valli is one Italian designer who delivered a sharp, romantic Fall 2007 collection. Sharp romance? Check it out...

While black tends to get monotonous on the runways for me, Valli's black was different. Using rich fabrics and smart contouring, this black made me wish I was an agent of chic espionage. The rest of the collection was just as wonderful with a solid color palette of grey, red, yellow and cream, and abstract prints thrown in for good measure. Super smart ruffling and bows personified the sharp romance I'm speaking of; these aren't your pretty proper ruffles and bows, these are modern, strong feminine touches. Experimental proportions occurred, but it felt right here with the bold colors and luxurious materials. The hot platforms and colored jewel adornments added glorious theatrics. Bravo!

Paris Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Chanel

Here is Karl Lagerfeld's winter wonderland. And what a joy it is! The Chanel Fall 2007 collection was not as jaw dropping as the sharp, masterfully black and white Spring collection but it was yummy nonetheless.

Joining Marc Jacobs on the ice skating rink (now there's a funny visual), this collection was youthful and fun. I don't recall such a colorful collection from Chanel in so long! A plethora of Nordic prints, patent detailing and colorful tweeds lightened the mood. Dresses styled over pants were a cool twist; crimped hair added zest. The finale dresses are guaranteed winners with sharp draping, sequin accents and roped straps. A jeweled bib on a modern black dress made me swoon. And look at how cute this Lagerfeld penguin is on this sweater? Too cute for school!

Paris Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Stella McCartney

Er Stella, not so sure about this one. Stella McCartney's Fall collection was disconnected. I don't know how it went from a perfect fuchsia sexy little ruffled dress to a colossal fluffy faux fur coat. Maybe she was playing with contrasts but the models looked a lot happier in the sexy, tailored looks. Although, there were a few standouts (phew!).

Stella always manages to deliver sexy v-neck boyfriend sweaters but I wasn't so keen on what was going on with the bottom half of these looks. Were those skirts or just flippy bits of fabric? One last dis: the tuxedo styles were fun and sharp but I feel like I've seen them before...But in the end, it was refreshing to see bare legs and the few expertly crafted chili pepper pieces were fabulous. This over sized poncho was the one piece that communicated the overtly boxy silhouette but still managed to deliver strong appeal. Better luck next season Stella.

Paris Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Balenciaga

What do tweeds, tie dye and track pants have in common? Nicolas Ghesquière's Fall 2007 Balenciaga collection. At first glance I thought this was a doomed hodge podge of ideas but after viewing the whole presentation I was elated by the intriguing mixmastering.

What a departure from his cyborg-beauties-on-steroids Spring collection! He has softened his perspective and this Fall's offerings are sure to have much broader appeal. While some may be taken aback by the white eyebrows and haphazard pairings, I thought it was inspirational. The rules no longer apply: you can and should mix and match! My favorite pieces were the prep school blazers, especially the ones with fur collars, and the crazy unique silk dresses. But once again with the jodhpurs! Sighted at Roberto Cavalli, I'm sorry but this is a Fall trend I will not be partaking in.

Paris Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Christian Dior

John Galliano presented an exquisite Christian Dior collection yesterday. I saw a tribute to Christian Dior's original 'New Look' from the 40s mixed with old Hollywood glamour and a sprinkling of Japanese sensibility, a wonderful combination if you ask me.

Bold, subtly theatrical looks trotted down the catwalk in a crayola box of colors. Skirts were both full and slim and tiny waists were accentuated. Glamour elements were: big dazzling jewels, gloves, fur trim and Veronica Lake curls. Clean, animated origami folding took the collection to a further far away land than Tinsel Town. This collection was surprisingly wearable and gorgeous - sure to be a hit with the fashion elite.

Milan Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Dolce & Gabbana

Dolce & Gabbana are metallic manic. But I must say, it suits them. They delivered a dazzling production full of blinding dresses, sexy suiting and cosmic beauties. A couple of beauties being the Dolce & Gabbana muses: Gisele (no last name required here) and Monica Bellucci.

I have been blinded by these otherworldly creations. You may recall the duo went majorly sci fi for their Spring collection and here they took it to another galaxy. The materials vary from plastic to silk to I don't know what, but there was an extreme mix of hard and soft. There was something for everyone - everyone with the balls to sport them. The collection was led by the dress. The suiting was provocative and strong; the daywear was sultry and crafty; the eveningwear was pure fashion orgasmica. I particularly enjoyed the colored metallics - the red is so juicy. The final pieces were sheer, corseted and beaded; the catwalk doesn't get much sexier than this.

Milan Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Marni

Here is one of my all time favorites, inspiring me yet again to be a creative force. Marni is the designer for the thoroughly modern Milanese.

Though elements were a bit all over the place, to me that is what makes Marni beautiful. You look at this collection and the clothes look like a canvas. With muted brights, neutrals and white, artsy prints and jeweled accents deliver typical, delightful Marni fare. I think Consuela Castiglioni mixed things up with her sculptured layering and experimental textures. I am so digging the heeled tights - not stirrups - they expose the sexy top of the foot. Silhouettes were mixed with pants, skirts and dresses but there was an overall boxy aura that still managed to be feminine. My only complaint: too many belts were in the mix. Zippers added a sporty element and fur hoods and trim added luxury. One day, one day, I will be able to afford Marni, and when I can I hope it's still this awesome.

Milan Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Roberto Cavalli

Hot stuff! The Fall Roberto Cavalli collection gave me a nice afternoon awakening. There is no doubt as to why Cavalli is a red carpet favorite....

Flowing, sexed up gowns belted at the waist, in addition to a low plunging neckline, are fan worthy. The warm tones made for a happy, sunshiney runway. Opulence was abundant with leather, fur, reptile skins, silk and leopard prints. An awesome art nouveau print was a lovely addition. There was a Grecian touch, as well as 70s and 80s seduction and power dressing. There were many metallics but this is one collection where I didn't mind it because it just works with the raw sensuality of Cavalli. Interesting to note: I thought this was a glammed up version of the Marc Jacobs Fall show with the Yves Saint Laurent references and bold suiting - Does anyone agree?

I have one issue though: jodhpurs? This is one fashion item that does not play well on this runway!

Milan Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Jil Sander

Jil Sander devotees are sharp suiters. Streamlined, clean concepts are always expected and for Fall designer Raf Simons delivered.

Understated yes, boring no. Really, when I viewed this collection it had a calming effect. Necklines were experimental: boatneck, draped, one shoulder and the house's signature turtleneck. Precise daywear in muted colors, with a splash of grape, white and what I call 'Jil Sander cobalt blue,' were starkly beautiful. The top and skirt sets weren't anything special but the coats and finale dresses sure were. Particularly, a black slim cocooned cape and white one shoulder dress. Subtle pleats, gorgeous leather and crisp metallics added flair.

Milan Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Prada

Why I declare: Miucca Prada has gone eco. Her bewildering Fall collection is hard to explain, as Prada often is, so I will do my best. She declares this collection was "something simple but strange." Indeed!

I saw eco in raw hems, a puckering effect in skirts and dresses (that I'm not a bit fan of) and her bold greens and oranges. The green even looked like - dare I say - Astroturf. The dropped silhouette in many coats and dresses has a 20s feel; I liked it in a long cardigan and skirt pairing, not so much in coats. Matte metallics were a nod to the future, as were the plasticized leathers. Some pieces were atrocious while others stole my heart; the colorful furry mohair coats made me want to bundle up immediately and the color block knee socks were just so cool and innovative. Minimal shifts, coats and knits were reminiscent of Prada's debut in the 90s. A bit awkward at first, I'm sure I'll warm up to this truly fashion forward collection.

Milan Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Burberry Prorsum

I absolutely adored Burberry Prorsum's Spring collection. Christopher Bailey is proving to be the smart choice to revive the classic brand. So I was excited to see what Fall would look like...

At first I saw: dark and tough, which was a bit frightening. Inspired by the Prorsum knight, I definitely see medieval references. Metallics looked like shimmering armor, reptilian gloves looked downright creepy and the models looked ready for battle. Then, the collection softened, delivering absolutely fabulous outerwear. Mostly belted, there were deconstructed and reconstructed trenches, sporty parkas and stadium jackets. Mini post it pleats and ruffles added a much needed trickle of femme. A couple of surprises were a pretty leafy print and a dusty violet color. Here's a collection based on old ideas that managed to look to the future.
