Shoes have reached an extreme — I love it. You might be wondering, "I thought you were a flat girl, though, Fab." I am, I am. But I also escape reality via fantastical footwear. Yes, the look is head-to-toe Spring '09 Marc Jacobs, but given his successful collection, I would wear the entire eclectic look, too. And, I would wear it ASAP, as Anne did. The youthful yet sophisticated Lurex-striped blue dress has the ease of a shirt dress but sharp shoulders — completely modern. Color is woven throughout and catapulted via the sash belt. Anne's hair is slightly messed, delivering a nonchalant attitude. And back to the shoes, bold, witty, Fab.

On Our Radar: Marc Jacobs Graffitis Louis Vuitton

Marc Jacobs was so smitten by his 2001 collaboration with designer and artist Stephen Sprouse that he has created a capsule collection in his honor.

“I totally channeled Stephen,” Jacobs said of the Louis Vuitton line, which includes t-shirts, dresses, sunglasses, bracelets, a towel, and a sweatband.

Sprouse passed away in 2004, but his streetwise aesthetic and Day-Glo graffiti were highly popular in the '80s. Another "very Sprouse" item includes a custom-made skateboard and skateboard case which is going to be up for auction.

You know you want a set — but unfortunately they’re not for sale. Luckily, VF Daily received a few extra to give away.

New York Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Marc Jacobs

Not only was Marc inspired by early Americana — he masterminded the colors, fabrics, jewels and accessories. For Marc's re(marc)able Spring, there were also goofy shoes, mismatched prints, Stephen Jones-designed boater hats, obi belts, and wackadoodle bags. There was also an elegant vaudeville feel, and are those shoulder pads I see? The mirror panels up and down the runway were reminiscent of a fun house — a fashion fun house. I love it when Marc goes maximum, and not minimum. Fab sightings included Jennifer Lopez (in white Roland Mouret), Winona Ryder, Rachel Zoe (we chatted, more on that later), Kelly Osbourne, Nicole Richie in a rhinestone hippie headband, Sofia Coppola, and Lauren Hutton. Not only was the event a circus, the catwalk was, too.9:10 p.m.: “Ladies and gentleman please take your seats, we are about to begin the show.” I honestly think Marc is still trying to make up for lost time (show time was 9 p.m.). People were running to get their seats, it was slightly sardine-like.

The clothes: fantastical, colorful, and confused. Suits and separates were mismatched, and all cinched, gathered and bustled with cloth obi belts. Metallic brocade, plaid, and stripes were all whipped together; silhouettes were all over the place, draping was key. And the shoes — which model Jordan Dunn post-show asked me if I noticed — were wonderfully experimental. There was no black in sight until the end, when some stunning dresses appeared, one favorite adorned with gold safety pins at the bodice. This collection was controlled chaos. I spoke of the hats, and stacked bangles and architectural necklaces were added fun. Fun fashion house.

Snap, crackle, pop. Remember that? Though Rice Krispies have nothing to do with crackled handbags, it was a catchy slogan. Since you probably have about a dozen normal leather handbags, crackled is the newest treatment for both buttery and patent leather. This conjures up a slightly distressed, completely appetizing canvas. Breakfast is served.

Two fashion worlds collided in a recent collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Rei Kawakubo. The Japanese designer behind Comme des Garçons, known for her simple and avant-garde styling, has designed an exclusive collection of evening bags for the monogram heavy luxury label.

“Due to our clever coordination, I anticipate that the wall between us will disappear. Funnily enough, I have never actually bought anything [at Vuitton], but I probably will buy a party bag next week,” said Kawakubo .

Kawakubo's six handbag designs, debuting next Wednesday in Tokyo, range from classically styled evening bags to '70s inspired shapes adorned with charms and multiple leather straps such as the bag pictured above.

Even when she's a tourist she looks cool. Rihanna was strolling through the streets of Milan in a Summer-perfect ensemble made of Stella McCartney, Dries Van Noten (those dope jeweled sandals), and funky, piled-on jewelry. I'm betting some of those jewels were collected on her travels, which make them even more special. Notice the ragazza adds her signature naughtiness with a studded bag and huge teardrop hoops.

Before bug-like shapes were swarming at the couture shows, they were trailblazing on the Fall runways. Whether you like this structured, cocoon-conjuring silhouette or not, get used to it. I'm pretty girlie girl when it comes to bugs — I don't like 'em — and I'm still warming up to the notion. But there's no denying the keen craftsmanship that went into these stiff, innovative coats. Proenza Schouler's fluttering cape coat is pretty rad, and that chartreuse color is scrumptious.

Side note: This is a direct blow to the fast fashion retailers; it will be very hard to re-create the elaborate ease of such a silhouette on the cheap. Dun dun dun.

I have a friend whose husband strictly associates clutches with evening events. That once held true. It's time to let your clutches see the light of day.

There isn't a big difference between nighttime and daytime clutches, except what you wear with.
