Photographed by Mario Testino, Carmen looks like a sun-kissed beach babe in Kor's colorful assortment of swimsuits, dresses, and tunics. I like how each outfit is styled to the nines with yummy accessories and handbags. Noah's (lack of) clothes is pretty fabulous, too. Hmmm . . . I wonder if I can squeeze in some time for a Winter vacay in the Tropics.

Lady in red, begone — ladies in white are in full force. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nicole Kidman, and Fergie all stepped onto Glamour's 2008 Women of the Year carpet in varying white gowns. Fergie (in Michael Kors) and Nicole (in L'Wren Scott) opted for floor-length while Sarah Michelle kept hers short. Gossip Girl Jessica Szohr also wore a long white J Mendel but to a different event — the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation's annual A Magical Evening Gala. Finally, Molly Sims attended a benefit for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund in a goddess-like white gown. It's clear these ladies shine in white, but which lady in white is most Fab? Source

Want to be a solid gold hit at the holiday soiree? Do like these gilded ladies and do it up in sparkling, golden-hued gowns. I would like to point out that all three of these starlets are blondes — brunettes and redheads can shine equally as strong. Elizabeth Banks is straight up glam in her Kaufman Franco slit-front gown, Richie went retro in her heavily beaded Reem Acra, and Jessica Biel outshined in a strapless Oscar de la Renta column. I included gilded cocktail options for us, it's more pared down, unless your hot self has a fabulous upcoming red carpet to grace.

A Fabby Halloween: Cleopatra

Congratulations . . . Leanne Marshall! The Project Runway Season Five Winner

Some of you restrained yourselves when I shared the final Project Runway collections in September. Then, it was still six designers in the running, so I witnessed final collections by Joe, Jerell, Suede, Kenley, Korto, and Leanne. I still don't understand why this isn't planned better. I firmly believe only the final three should show at the tents. Plus, it's a waste of money. Anyway, another Project Runway has come and gone and now you can view them all! And, you can buy them all! While we await the decision on the future of next season, I want to share what I then observed about the winner's collection. I'm not one to toot my own horn, but I had a feeling Leanne would win. Last night, Kenley's collection wowed me over once again and for a second I thought she might win. Alas, a bad attitude and unoriginality spoiled Kenley's chance.

Here's what I thought about Leanne's collection right after I saw it — nothing has changed. It was fresh, innovative, and gorgeous.

Funny how the six collections gradually got better. I think Leanne is going to win. Her collection was as stellar as any of the professional collections from the week. It was conceptual, beautiful, and theatrical. Leanne claimed she "lost a million hours of sleep" over it, and it showed. Sculptural skirts, dresses, and gowns floated down the runway to the beat of a neutral, cool palette. The craftsmanship was expert and you could just feel the adoration in the air. I would wear the ivory off-shoulder top and turquoise petal skirt and the ivory and beige corset mini dress in a heartbeat. And her modern wedding dress blew Suede's off the (project) runway.

I Want This Wardrobe: Gossip Girl, Serena van der Woodsen

While the Upper East Siders had college on their minds last night on Gossip Girl, their intentions proved otherwise. Case in point: Serena van der Woodsen. In an attempt to shun her ex-BF, Serena opted out of her Brown visit and decided to accept the dean of Yale’s personal invitation to visit the school. Between the cat fighting and headband thrashing, I took note of Serena's college-ready ensemble.

While Blair kept it prim and proper, the blonde bee reigned in her sleek look; but, we all agreed the low-cut shirt was inappropo. The Ralph Lauren pinstriped blazer and Michael Kors knee-high boots give off a collegiate feel while a silk tee and Rich & Skinny jeans keep her look cool and casual. The hunter green Celine purse was the perfect accessory choice; structured yet sexy.

Do You Agree With the Three Project Runway Finalists?

Spoiler alert! The last episodes of Project Runway gave a glimpse into the real lives of the finalists. Tim pays visits to their hometowns, where they've been working on their final collections for a month. Learning the roots of the designers is cool; seeing their work spaces, their surroundings, their family, their friends. And Tim really shines as their mentor. Aw. The challenge was to create a wedding dress — oh, and a last-minute bridesmaid dress — and the results were eye opening. It really showed who had a vision. I was a bit disappointed in Korto's — does any woman want to wear beige on her wedding day? — and was blown away by Leanne's. Kenley got the quick insult of her dress resembling Alexander McQueen's Fall collection (it's so true). And Jerell's adorned gown missed the mark. It's crunch time people. Ooh, it's the battle of the Sex and the City women. Actress Kristin Davis first wore this Michael Kors floral dress to Late Show With David Letterman back in May. It was a fine choice, considering the season and the popularity of floral frocks. She chose to cinch her waist with a purple belt and decorate her feet with black slingback sandals. Creator of SATC, Candace Bushnell, just wore the same dress to the show's DVD launch party. Last night's episode of Project Runway lacked pizazz. I think we're at that dwindling point where we just want the remaining true talents to shine. It's time to weed out the wannabees. Am I being too harsh? This is fashion people! The remaining six had to create outfits for women who had recently graduated from college, preparing them for the real world and with mom's approval. Most mother-daughter duos and designers got along, and the designs proved to be pretty run-of-the-mill — nothing fabulously atypical. Maybe they were saving their energy for the finale runway show. Also, Betsey Johnson offers up ripe red cherries; BCBG uses its Fall '08 ads; and Sergio Rossi serves up sexy shoes. Find your favorite and deck your Google out in style. The Project Runway Season Five Finale Runway Show!

The grand finale of my Fashion Week was the Project Runway finale show. And what a show it was. Before the season five contestants showed their collections, it was a reunion among familiar faces. It's always a joy seeing Runway alumni gather and mingle. The recently booted Blayne and Terri were there — all smiles — and favorites like Jay, Rami, Jillian (wearing a familiar knit sweater from her collection), Chris March, and Jack Mackenroth (who I chatted with at the Jill Stuart show, he is so sweet) all made cameos. Enter Christian Siriano, who had his own Spring show the night before. Then, Michelle Tractenberg, Rachel Zoe, and Harvey Weinstein were chatting about. Quite the spectacle!Anticipation grew once Heidi, Nina, and Michael Kors all came out to welcoming applause. Side note: Are Heidi and Nina both wearing Roland Mouret dresses? They looked great, but I wonder if that was planned. At 9:30 a.m. the lights dimmed and Heidi appeared, microphone in hand. She said some heartfelt words to the people of Bravo and the Magic Elves (the show's producers) — saying goodbye and thanking them for five great seasons. To bring you up to speed, Runway is moving to Lifetime for their sixth season (and that will be interesting in itself).

The guest judge seat remained empty. All week long there had been rumblings about Jennifer Lopez being the guest judge, but it was anticlimactic when Heidi announced that Lopez was unable to due to "a foot injury." Boo. And so, Tim Gunn stepped in at the last minute to serve as guest judge. Don't get me wrong — I adore Gunn — but it was very exciting when Victoria Beckham graced us with her presence last time. Once all was said and done, the first collection, by Jerell, was unveiled . . .

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, especially when it comes to couture. In last night's episode of Project Runway, the designers were asked to create a couture garment that reflected an astrological sign. While others were scolded for their tacky pieces, Leanne, Jerell, and Joe scored high on the judges card for their creative designs. Leanne's scorpion-inspired dress was dark and lovely; Jerell took a huge risk using interesting fabrics; and Joe's ram-inspired dress was well interpreted. Which one was your favorite?Source

The Michael Kors Spring '09 runway presentation brought out a slew of celebrity fans, one of them being Gossip Girl Blake Lively. I love how this girl can look as relaxed in dresses as she can in jeans. For the occasion, Blake chose Michael Kors's lattice A-line dress and his double ankle strap sandals. She doesn't usually like to pile on the accessories so she kept it simple with a cocktail ring and a black snakeskin clutch. I'm sure she made Michael proud.

Was It a Good Idea For the Models to Buy Fabrics on Behalf of the Designers?

For the first time in Project Runway history, the designers were not allowed to purchase their own fabrics. Gasp! Instead, the models they picked at the start of the episode did the shopping for them. And they weren't allowed to buy just any fabric; it had to be environmentally friendly. While some designers were impressed by their models' selections, others were stumped and unable to use most of what was in front of them. Of course, in the end, all the models had something to wear, and guest judge Natalie Portman was quite complimentary to some designers. But what do you think? Behind the Seams: Nordstrom Fall 2008 Designer Preview

Seeing runway photos is not nearly as enticing as seeing the clothes live, and Nordstrom's Designer Preview 2008 reiterated that fact. For example, Bill Blass's gray/black tulle-bodice strapless dress — you know, the one Anne Hathaway wore at the Get Smart premiere — literally came to life before my eyes on the catwalk. While I admired it on Anne, I fell madly in love with it that night because I saw the way the bottom half of the dress danced as the model pranced down the runway. Donna Karan, Stella McCartney, Derek Lam, Missoni, Valentino, Michael Kors, Peter Som, Burberry Prorsum, Vera Wang, and Versace also each showed about a dozen Fall looks.

The night was centered around the runway, but the pre- and postparty was also a blast. Clothes hanging on tall racks gave guests, including myself, the chance to get up close and personal with their catwalk faves, while champagne and hors d'oeuvres kept us satiated. Oh, and I got to meet the ultimate San Francisco socialite, Joy Bianchi!

Project Runway, Episode 1 "Let's Start From the Beginning"

Project Runway fanatics know that last night's challenge — creating clothes out of items from Gristedes Supermarket — was nothing new. Hence the title of the episode, "Let's Start From the Beginning." And start from the beginning they did because they brought on Season 1 contestant, and winner of the original Gristedes challenge, Austin Scarlett, as a guest judge. Not surprisingly, the 16 designers freaked out upon hearing their challenge. I bet you half of them didn't even pay attention to Austin's instructions as they were busy visualizing which aisle they were going to run to. While some of them, including some of my favorites, were a little bit of a let down, others stepped up to the plate and impressed us.

You've met the new batch of aspiring designers and now it's showtime. Project Runway Season Five premieres tonight! Everyone seems pretty wide eyed and excited, but we all know that will soon change. With short and sometimes not so sweet cameos from Tim Gunn, Heidi, Nina and Michael, my favorite part of this video is the faces. Faces of fear, relief, worry and shock, you know what I'm talking about. And I must say: Why is Kelly hating on Nina? She's not so bad, Michael can be just as scary. Welcome the Cast of Project Runway, Season 5

We're taught not to judge a book by its cover, but when you're an unknown fashion designer, all you have is your cover and a mini bio. As we prepare to welcome the new hopefuls of Project Runway into our homes this Wednesday, the three I'm drawn to right off the bat are Emily (left), who worked with Jeremy Scott; Wesley (center), the sharpest dresser from the guys; and Leanne (right), who graduated from FIDM in San Francisco.

If you wish, you can read more in depth about all the contestants. We have yet to see who does the most innovative work, but it's safe to assume that those who look fashion-forward will most probably prove that in their work. I hope, like last season, my predictions are somewhat right. And who knows, since many of the males are not so dashing, maybe we'll have a female winner!

Fall Glimpse: Separate Together

Admittedly, I got very used to the ease and femininity of the dress. The dress had a good run — and now my closet is bursting with them — but it's time to be more creative. The return of sportswear for Fall will bring many brilliant separates; micro-mini and calf-length skirts, scrunchy skinny, and slouchy, baggy pants, sheer and boldy printed tops, and some freakin' amazing outerwear.

Michael Kors is one man who has always done separates divinely (wave to Jourdan Dunn at left). If you choose to go the Mad Men route, he is your fashion God. If you're more of a mix master, dig Just Cavalli. For modernists, Y & Kei's sculptured jacket and serious slacks inspire.

Lindsay Lohan has been hard at work on the set of Labor Pains, but she took a much needed break to shop for her birthday. I'm glad to see her out of her movie wardrobe and into this sweet Anna Sui camisole (on sale!), Michael Kors caged sandals, and a Chanel bag. I like how she's super girlie up top and bad girl on the bottom. Happy Birthday, LL!

Fab Flash: Michael Kors Dives Deep Into Swimwear

"Swim is such an integral part of my design philosophy. It's not about swimwear per se; it's part of my customer's lifestyle" Kors shares. That said, fans will be able to splish splash their way in Michael Kors' revamped swimwear line. A recent partnership with Swimwear Anywhere Inc. has enabled the designer to create an extensive collection of swimsuits for all beach loving creatures.

His first Resort collection, set to launch in October, will include a large selection of bikinis and retro one-pieces. The Michael Kors Collection will cost $90 to $140 at high end retailers including Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue while the better-priced swimwear collection, Michael Michael Kors, will be sold at Macy's and Lord & Taylor with items ranging from $84 to $110. I've been a long time fan of Kors' warm-weather wares, so I'm sure this will be a success.

Can you blame Michael Kors for drawing inspiration from Balenciaga's Fall collection for his 2009 Resort line? I can't. Nicolas Ghesquière's collection, especially this particular black cut-out dress on Natasha Poly, was so cutting edge, heck, I would be inspired by it if I were a designer. While many of you may think it's weird for one designer to copy another so blatantly, it's completely acceptable in fashion. I mean, hello, there isn't a soul who hasn't copied Yves Saint Laurent's "Le Smoking" tuxedo suit! Kors made the dress, worn by model Vlada Roslyakova, his own by being more subtle with his cut-out shoulders, and by choosing a blue, abstract floral design. When it comes to fashion-forward designs, I say, the more the merrier.

Where's your next vacation? I'm all about sunny destinations. I know, I know, harmful UV rays. But I'm a water baby, and sun goddess, and sand junkie — and I lather on the SPF. And, I'm young and want to have fun! So I am loving all the Resort collections that are unraveling right now. This batch is a mix of unfussy and fussy looks; some neutral and relaxed, some structured with pops of color. We're seeing more direction and an increased participation in Resort, so if you want a glimpse of what's to come next Spring, pay attention.

The future is still unsteady for Nina Garcia.

Garcia was set to continue season 5 of Project Runway while finishing her contributing editor position with Elle. She was planning on continuing alliances with the show through Marie Claire after her departure from her former employer. The reports have now been declared inaccurate by a spokesman from The Weinstein Co., stating that Garcia and Michael Kors are still in the midst of contract negotiations with the show for season 5 and 6. Garcia is also negotiating the terms on her relationship, or lack thereof, with Elle's owner, Filipacchi Media.

Whew! Are we all over all this Garcia back and forth?

Have you all noticed the striking similarities between Lauren Conrad and Nicole Richie lately? First LC channeled Nicole in cut-off shorts and now, like Richie, she wore an Elizabeth and James dress. It may be mere coincidence, but I'm just saying! There's no doubt, however, that Lauren looked pretty at MTV's Upfront Presentation last night. The blue hue matches her skin and brings out her baby blues. Per usual, she kept her accessories to a minimum, but in this case, a dress that striking should be center of attention.
