Keds are always cute. And I have to say the brand's model, Mischa Barton, is a good fit. It's been a while though, and technology recently made me purchase my first pair since third grade.

When I found out you can customize Keds on the brand's website, I just had to give shoe designing a stab. The technology can look scary, but it's quite easy. After playing around, I created some trés chic Keds from an Eiffel Tower photo I found on the Internet. For $70, I can afford to take a risk and see if it will translate as well in person. Stay tuned: I'll keep you posted when they arrive. Besides lace-ups, you can also choose from regular slip-ons and mini slip-ons. I was wandering the aisles of my local drug store last night when something cool caught my eye: the Umbrella Draining System ($15). I thought the standing umbrella was innovative but this takes the cake.

Living in a city where it rains often, this could come in handy. The UDS umbrella comes with an umbrella holder in the same color — choose from silver, gold, pink, purple, or red. After you're done using your drenched umbrella, simply put it in its container and let the water drip in there. Once your umbrella is dry again, drain the water out. Why didn't I think of that?!
