Emma Roberts wore a dark and tailored Sass & Bide bubble dress, The Hills' Lo donned a colorful Ina Soltani bub, and Elizabeth Bank's Moschino bubbler was gray and subdued. This just proves how creative the all-American fabric can be. Whether it's old-fashioned pegging or preppy cuffing, or a mix of both, this trend has me nonplussed. I don't like the look on a baggier jean — see Katie Holmes — but I do like a more laid-back subtle cuff, a la Rachel Bilson. SJP was playing with her jean hemlines months ago, going bike messenger style with the one cuff on one leg. Here's some guidelines, but my advice is: Show off stunning shoes, keep proportions in control, and do not leave the house if you aren't comfortable with your newfound nip/tuck.

Per usual, the Fall runways were awash with dark, moody, and jewel-tone colors. However, some designers went against the grain and embraced the icy-cold colors of Fall. Winter white, mellow gray, and arctic blue are intense, cool, and collected.

Narciso Rodriguez (left) was decidedly hyperbolic with this monochrome look — a sculptural white dress, blinding tights and banded shoes. It may be slushy and ugly outside, but being stylishly stark never looked so good.

As fabulous as they are, I never said celebrities don't sometimes wear the silliest trends. The gladiator tuck is a questionable one. Here, some starry eyed youngins are sporting their skinnies tucked into their gladiator sandals. Sienna Miller was actually spotted wearing this style in 2005 and it's obvious as to why it hasn't caught on that quickly. I'm on the fence; I like the look with gladiator heels better, at least it elongates. I suggest sticking with dark colors — dark denims and brown and black glads. But if you're young, bold and funky, tuck yourself right in.

Fall Glimpse: Back to the Future

It was one of my favorite movies in the '80s and it is one of my favorite trends now. I don't really see myself in cosmic clothes, but I sure love looking at them. They're so sleek, so severe, so serious. True, they may be most appropriate for the cast of the Star Trek movie (wouldn't that be dope?), but whenever this trend resurfaces it reminds me that it is the future.

YSL's runway (left) was transfixing; architectural shapes, stiff fabrics, drones of models in uniform mop tops and new-wave shades. Others were more wearable — Ferragamo's slivers of metallic and straight jacket-esque creations and the renegades at Rick Owens.

Admittedly, I got very used to the ease and femininity of the dress. The dress had a good run — and now my closet is bursting with them — but it's time to be more creative. The return of sportswear for Fall will bring many brilliant separates; micro-mini and calf-length skirts, scrunchy skinny, and slouchy, baggy pants, sheer and boldy printed tops, and some freakin' amazing outerwear.

Michael Kors is one man who has always done separates divinely (wave to Jourdan Dunn at left). If you choose to go the Mad Men route, he is your fashion God. If you're more of a mix master, dig Just Cavalli. For modernists, Y & Kei's sculptured jacket and serious slacks inspire.
