On Our Radar: Vince Goes Beyond the T-shirt

I live in my Vince cozies. Their super soft pieces make for great basics and layering pieces. I'm psyched to announce they're expanding the business into a full-fledged contemporary line. Come 2009, Vince will launch a swimwear, handbag, and shoe collection along with an eyewear collection in 2010.

Vince’s new offerings will join their current selection of tops, dresses, knit pants and leather jackets, which range from $60 for a tee to $740 for a washed leather jacket. “They already built a brand loyalty with the customer…[knowing] that Vince is reliable [with] the fit [and] the quality” said Terence Bogan of Barneys Co-op. Sounds promising.

I Want This Wardrobe: Gossip Girl, Serena van der Woodsen

Last night's episode of Gossip Girl was filled with new beginnings. Blair was trying to get in good graces with the Yale folks while Jenny presented her first fashion show. Serena, of course, was busy with her fluctuating love life. In an attempt to woo her new love interest, Serena pulled out all the fashion stops. Her Just Cavalli gown and jeweled Armani pumps were just what the love doctor ordered. Though you can't see it here, a cozy Vince shawl goes perfectly with her sophisticated frock. Note how Serena spiced things up with a colorful cocktail ring. Hail the queen!

Trend Alert: The New Crop of Leggings

OK, so here's the thing: I am so over leggings. Have been since they came back a couple years ago. But I accepted it's one of those things that won't die, and I figured out it's because they serve a functional purpose; they do come in handy in times of travel and nippy weather. And so, I think Lindsay Lohan was on to something. Along with her legging line 6126 (named after Marilyn Monroe's birthday), the new crop of leggings are un-ordinary. They come in different colors, textures, and treatments. So if you can't rid yourself of them, try on a modernized, fresh pair, for me.

Trend Alert: Baggy and Saggy Pants

The last time I asked you about these style pants, you all hated it. Baggy and saggy pants are definitely not for everyone but I dare you try it. So, how low would you go?

If you're swaying on the avant garde tip, I'd suggest you hone in your eccentric glamour with a pair of crotch dropping jodhpurs. If you're still on the fence — like me— try a more subdued version with a pair of crisp cropped baggy trousers like Phillip Lim's to the left. My only piece of advice: choose something that flatters your derrière. Have fun and be brave!

You know it's Fall when you find yourself craving fuzzies. Frankly, fuzzies are a bit out of control right now — or at least they were at Prada, shown here. While I would totally embrace a fuzzy Prada friend, they happen to run with a different social circle, so I'll settle for a more down to earth, i.e. affordable, homie. These fuzzies come in fabrics like angora, mohair and alpaca.

My style tip is to opt for a cuddly sweater and surround your waist with a skinny belt — oh so Marilyn Monroe.

Fab's October Most Wanted

There is one thing that I think of when October rolls around: Halloween! It makes sense for the Fab favorite holiday to be the holiday where you are required to dress up and be someone else for a night right? Halloween is the time to get creative with garb and prove to the world you can be sexy, scary or funny — in excess. Me? I usually go for sexy, since I'm fairly buttoned up the other 364 days of the year. More Halloween inspiration is in the near Fab future, but in the meantime, here are some favorites to get me in cold weather fashion shape.

So I mentioned I'm fairly buttoned up most of the time, but I do love me some animal prints, and this Banana Republic Silk animal-print top, $48, is a beaut.
Call them go go boots, call me lover. These Bottega Veneta Patent Boots, $990, are hot and I dig the stacked heel. For days I'm not feeling so retro, a glimpse under some dark denim boot cuts is very Marianne Faithfull.
I'm sorry, but these Yves Saint Laurent Charlotte Pumps, $495, are fine. In person, they're finer. And all things considered — YSL, fine leather, unique architectural wooden heel — that price is not too exorbitant.
Nothing says cozy chic like a layering piece such as this Lux Fairisle Sweater Dress, $58.
I'm not an advocate of leggings, except in times of travel, so these Vince
Side Zipper Pants, $195, are a cool alternative.

The Look for Less: Vince White Eyelet Empire Dress

Can I please ask why someone would spend so much on such an easily ruinable summer staple like the LWD? In case you haven't heard, white is one of this Spring's essential colors. Now I love white as much as the next fake tanning girl, but it is one of the riskiest colors to wear. I don't think I have ever splurged on something white; I just don't think it's a smart investment. I also have butter fingers and tend to spill, run into and trip about so at the end of the day there is always a stain on me, especially if I'm wearing white (why does that always happen btw?). I have a confession: I am not blond like my animated persona. Not right now anyway. Mid-summer I dyed my hair a strawberry blond and have received so many compliments I may ride it through the winter. I recently noticed I have bought a lot of clothing items in heather grey; this color looks fab on redheads! It's also a very versatile color. I often wear it with yellow, as well as other brights. Fall Classic: Intarsia Sweaters

Can't Wait for Sweater Season!

The best thing about fall is the day I get to break out my fluffy sweaters and settle in for the cold weather. Here are a few of my favorites so far this season:
