When we found out Claudia Schiffer was Stefano Pilati's Spring muse, we were pretty sure the outcome was going to be Fab. See for yourself. Shot in LA, right smack in front of the Hollywood sign "Y," it is stunning. Though you can barely recognize Claudia's face — it's more just a statuesque blonde in a long and lean navy ensemble — you can tell it's a pro in YSL garb. Claudia Schiffer is to take over the Yves Saint Laurent throne. YSL Creative Director Stefano Pilati just announced the supermodel to be the face of his Spring campaign. Schiffer's ads, shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin in LA, is Pilati's second consecutive campaign featuring a supermodel. Schiffer follows in the footsteps of Naomi Campbell, who was featured in YSL's Fall campaign.

Still stunning after all these years, I love the curves of this dress and the futuristic seam play. The neckline is unique, and flattering, and who can resist a big Chanel bow front and center? The grey colorblocking continues on the sides and a subtle front slit. Attending the Vogue magazine 20th anniversary party, Claudia kept the flow going with grey sandals and a slightly metallic clutch. Jewelry and beauty was kept to a minimum; a delicate diamond bracelet and center parted straight hair. No frills, no fuss, just Chanel and Claudia.

Preface: you don't need to have straight, blonde hair to do the brooch. That's merely a coincidence (and two Claudia Schiffers) you see. You do need to have an inclination to wearing a vintage style. As you can see from the blondes modeling these all very different brooches, though some of them are decidedly modern in design, they evoke the look of another time. A time when movies were black and white, men always wore hats and gas was insanely cheap. Were those the good old days? . . .

At first glance, the silk scarf and grey blazer can seem stuffy, but her J Brand Lovestory jeans, oversized sunnies, and patent Mulberry Bayswater bag ease it up a bit. Maybe it's because I watched Gossip Girl last night, but doesn't she look like a grownup, more kick-back version of Blair Waldorf?

When Karl Lagerfeld photographed the ad campaign for the champagne Dom Perignon Oenotheque, he was thinking of a young, handsome old-moneyed couple, for whom everything is perfect. They're just a little bored, and the husband looks at his wife and gets the idea that she could be all women in one. The champagne helps him imagine these fantasies, which are played out through the all the pictures: Claudia Schiffer as French maid, Claudia Schiffer as Marie Antoinette, Claudia Schiffer as blushing bride... The pictures are all black and white, as Karl prefers with his photography...and his every day dress, for that matter. Do you find the final product fantasy-inducing?

The era of the supermodel may be over but that doesn't mean these old-time models don't get invites to every fabulous fashion event. Kate Moss, Eva Herzigova, Elizabeth Hurley and Claudia Schiffer all made a grand entrance in shades of neutral at the Victoria & Albert Museum Golden Age of Couture 2007 in London. Coincidence much? Kate and Elizabeth opted for silky; Eva went for ruffled tiers; and Claudia chose sheer and sparkly Chanel. No doubt, all these old school supermodels look glamorous, but Claudia has won my heart with her mermaid-like gown. Can't you just see her popping out of a big clam shell? Who's your favorite? Longtime Model Claudia Schiffer looks classic and chic at the launch for Shortlist Magazine. I like that her shirt dress has lace detailing and a black bow ribbon. She's smart to have kept the accessories to a minimum, as gaudy jewels would have killed the sweet look. She barely has any makeup on, yet she still manages to look so pretty. The woes of being beautiful!

Fab Flash: Gianni Versace Commemorated

Last night, Milan paid tribute to Gianni Versace on the 10th anniversary of his murder. Gianni was tragically killed outside his Miami house by serial killer Andrew Cunanan on July 15, 1997.

A two-part ballet called "Thank you, Gianni, with love," was performed at La Scala, and featured stage costumes designed by Gianni over the years, as well as costumes created specially for the tribute by his sister Donatella. Supermodels Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer, as well as Jessica Alba, Karl Lagerfeld, and many of the Versace family all attended.

We miss you, Gianni!
