Trend Alert: The Gladiator Tuck

As fabulous as they are, I never said celebrities don't sometimes wear the silliest trends. The gladiator tuck is a questionable one. Here, some starry eyed youngins are sporting their skinnies tucked into their gladiator sandals. Sienna Miller was actually spotted wearing this style in 2005 and it's obvious as to why it hasn't caught on that quickly. I'm on the fence; I like the look with gladiator heels better, at least it elongates. I suggest sticking with dark colors — dark denims and brown and black glads. But if you're young, bold and funky, tuck yourself right in.

The singer visited the BET studios in what may appear to be a crazy outfit, but if anyone can pull it off, it's someone young and funky like Rihanna. I revel in it when a previous bargain of mine finally makes it to trend status. Not to brag, but I scored a pair of Christian Dior bronze gladiators over a year ago on major markdown — they were from the 2008 Cruise collection. It was right when gladiators were surfacing, though I've always liked the masculine/feminine sandal. Now gladiators are every which where and it was hard to miss Gwyneth's Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain bronze sandals at the Two Lovers premiere in Cannes. So we all have black ones, move on to the lover, the fighter, the bronze gladiator.

You know the zeitgeist is in flux when Heidi Montag wears a Balenciaga item even before Sarah Jessica Parker! The reality starlet hit up NYC with Spencer on Wednesday, and took us all by surprise when she actually wore a cool outfit, complete with blue and green Balenciaga gladiator sandals. Then, the ever-so-lovely SJP filmed a commercial on Thursday in a Carrie-inspired outfit and the same exact Balenciaga shoes. On her way to the recording studio yesterday, Fergie looked surprisingly understated. Notice I didn't say simple, just understated by her usually frilly standards. You all know by now that I am a huge fan of gladiator sandals, even though my friends say I look like Hercules when I wear them. Whatever. These Lanvin Gladiator Sandals, $575, to me, are one of the best kinds out there. Worn with a pair of itty-bitty denim shorts and a simple white tee, they would look dazzling. If they're a bit out of your league, you'll be excited for the look for less...I sure was!

What to wear on the way to the forum? Why, a luxe pair of gladiator sandals. These may not be for everyone, they are a bit masculine and daring, but I for one love them. They have a very exotic feel and when worn with a slinky trapeze style dress you create a look that is totally sexy - trust me. Also, a look that is very comfortable! My only suggestion is to wear any ankle straps with a good bit of leg showing as to not cut off the length of the leg. Oh, and stay away from the lions!
