She suggests buying two types of footwear for your big day: a fantasy shoe and a reality shoe. I know what you're thinking: "As if one shoe isn't costly enough, now I have to buy two?"

I've never been a bride, so I don't know how I'll be on my wedding day. You hear all this talk about bridezillas, but I have yet to meet one in person. There are plenty on TV to keep us entertained though. In this fab-u-lous editorial from the April 2006 issue of Paris Vogue, Sasha Pivarova and Natasha Vojovic are the epitome of hysteria bride. They appear to be brides in their avant-garde white gowns, but they sure don't act like it; at least not in the traditional sense of the term!

Freaky or Fabulous? Alana Savoir Feather-Infested Bride

When I think of feathers on a wedding dress, the last image that comes to mind is that of Alana Savoir's creation at Mexico Fashion Week. Feathers are supposed to lend delicateness but in this case, they have provided extreme harshness. The dress is a bit too busy in my opinion, but what really drowns the look is the feather headpiece; it reminds me of George Washington's colonial hairstyle. And as if there weren't enough feathers on the look, the model is carrying a peacock feather. Unnecessary, right? This is 100 percent freaky. Tell me you agree! Wow, Oscar, you really know how to make a girl swoon. Oscar de la Renta's Spring 2009 bridal collection is one of the most well-rounded collections I've seen yet. It really does have a dress for every type of bride. You want an overdramatic gown to match your overdramatic personality? Done. You want to go simple in a delicate short dress? Go for it. You want to channel an over-the-top prairie gal? He has a gown, and hat, for you too!

If I had to take my pick from Oscar's confections, I'd go with this strapless one with the dramatic ruffled hemline. It's simple on top and fun on the bottom — the perfectly balanced bride.

Reem Acra's latest bridal collection offered a colorful and whimsical alternative to the traditional white wedding. Arcra divulged, "It's about the future. What's going to happen to my dresses? The young girls are going to go into their mother's closet and play with them. It's about having fun!"

And that she did with her models placed in storybook settings with musings of playing dress-up and having tea parties. Vibrant gingham and floral patterns were layered on top of the white dresses evoking a colorful and fun point of view. Acra's bold and refreshing take on the classic wedding dress was simply rejuvenating and quite fabulous.

Brides-to-be who want a little avant-garde for their big day can now look to Lanvin. Despite his hectic schedule, Alber Elbaz has squeezed in a bridal collection for Lanvin called Collection Blanche. His tongue-in-cheek creations hit the Dover Street Market display windows a few weeks ago. They include a kaftan (for the bride in the sun), a trench (for the on-the-go gal), a tulle cardigan (for the romantic), and many other styles that go against the classic grain. Innovative indeed, but did we expect anything different from a man who sports a bow tie nearly as big as his head?
